I told you it was just a matter of time...Hanley shipping up to Boston.

Even if it weren't April Fool's, nobody would believe that for a second. Ellsbury is an overhyped product of the media's obsession with Boston, and Bard is nothing. That deal wouldn't get Hanley, not even close.

Hell, Pedroia and Ellsbury wouldn't be enough for Hanley.

I have a problem.

You're ridiculous. The kid has lived up to any "hype" surrounding him. He was in the top 20 prospects list for most major outlets -(BP, etc.) and had an excellent season last year on the bases , hitting, and defensively.

He had an 87 OPS+ last season. He's a pretty good player, but he's not worth the hype he's received, and if he was putting up low 800 OPS in the Marlins organization as a 22 year old, he would not have been a top 20 prospect, I guarantee you.

Ellsbury should be Johnny Damon, with a better arm. There's tons of value in that, but the hype on him is considerably higher than it would have been playing anywhere else. You can make this out to be more of being anti-Boston, but it's more that big market team's prospects get much more hype than they would if they were anywhere else. This is why everyone knows names like Jacoby Ellsbury, Philip Hughes, Felix Pie, and Justin Masterson, all of whom may be good players one day, but who's expectations are sky high (and probably far, far too high) because of the organizations they play for.

And either way, his perceived value, his value to the Red Sox, and his value to any other team are all completely different. Fans think he's awesome because he hit .350 in 100 at bats and FOX felated him for a month during the playoffs, the Red Sox think he's awesome because he's under club controlled for the next 6 years, and the rest of the league thinks he's ok, but probably no more than an average to above average player in the long run, and certainly not worth THE BEST SHORTSTOP IN BASEBALL WHO IS UNDER CLUB CONTROL AT A REASONABLE COST UNTIL 2014.

But like I said, I have a problem. I responded seriously to an April Fool's post.

I should probably tell you that it took a lot of willpower not to make fun of you when you were locked out of your gated community last week or whenever it was.

I should probably tell you that it took a lot of willpower for me not to respond to this.

Not really.
