tangara
Note that big gap between New York and Seattle. Lolla anyone?

remphish1
I am sure more dates will be added...and Chicago is strangley absent.
calvino
Note that big gap between New York and Seattle. Lolla anyone? That would be nice. I am a fan but I probably would not see them by themselves. But it would be good they if are part of Lollapalooza. The Cure are being kicked around to play also, of course they always seemed to be rumored to play. But having both play would be like a 120 Minute Flashback.
u2roolz
Depeche Mode will be having a press conference tomorrow in Berlin to announce a new album & tour. Both are expected in 2023: the U.S. will have a somewhat brief arena tour starting March 23rd. Some of these dates include stops at MSG, Chicago’s United Center, LA’s Kia Forum and Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. European audiences will have a stadium tour starting on May 16th with stops in Paris, Berlin, Milan & London. The latest album is titled Memento Mori which will be released in the spring. It appears to have been recorded, while the late Andrew Fletcher was alive. I had no idea that they were recording anything. I don’t recall that being mentioned when Andrew died in May. I thought that that would have signaled the end of them, but I’m happy to see Dave & Martin marching on. They have a tendency to skip the Boston area, so I’m curious to see if they come around here. I was shocked to see them book the TD Garden in 2018. The place was lightly attended and made me wonder why they didn’t play the smaller Agganis Arena at BU. ^ this is a leak of the press release that should hit tomorrow.

chuckrh
For some reason I can't stand DM. Just never really struck a chord with me. Too mopey I think. I like depressing music but with DM it just seemed put on to me. It's nothing like my psychotic dislike of anything to do with the Hateful Fred (GD) though, haha. More power to you if you like them. Just don't try to hijack the site like the Fredheads do, haha.

Extremely brief tour though.

Speaking of Robert Smith, I feel like I’ve been reading about a new Cure album for the past 4 years. I did notice that they’re starting a tour this week. Anyways, I’d recommend their Devotional Tour concert video. Gahan isn’t in the best frame of mind at all, but they sound so fucking amazing on that tour. And the stage show is something else. Most of the past 5 tours going back to 2001 all blend together in terms of setlist & stage production, but they still put on a great show. Gahan’s voice is still smooth and fantastic. He did Bowie’s Heroes justice on the last tour.

We'll find out tomorrow what the setlists are going to be like for the European tour. I hope they include some of the alleged new material but if I were betting on it I would guess Wish 30. & the Cure were talking about the new record in 2016. I suspect Robert might smoke a lot of pot & you know that can make you a bit lazy. Combine that with perfectionist tendencies, it's a nightmare to get anything done. Reeves Gabrels is one of my favorite guitar players & I'm dying to hear what he comes up with in the studio with the Cure. I saw 2 shows in 2016 & Reeves was amazing,. Him & his wife are really nice people to boot.

Extremely curious to see what they have in store. 2016, eh? I guess that makes sense. That was the year of their last proper U.S. tour. And before that they were around in 2008 with their last album. I guess I last heard about a new record in 2019 and not 2018 like I originally thought. The pandemic makes sense for any delay. Last time I saw Robert Smith was on one of those Zoom benefits for Chicago in 2020. Jeff also performed.
