Conrad
A clip from Bull Black Nova, around 2:29: http://dl-client.getdropbox.com/u/66496/bbn.wav It's not loud but it's there. It's bugging the hell out of me.
cryptique
I think this is an artifact of the MP3 rip. It (hopefully) won't be there on the CD/vinyl.
MattZ
Yeah, it sounds to me like something that shouldn't be there. I assumed it was just a product of the rip itself.
jarenas
It doesn't sound to me like cellphone interferences at all..Do you mean the quiet sound at the start of the sample, on the left channel?
Conrad
It's also in the stream at Wilcoworld. It's in both channels.. not loud, and it sounds like, well, cellphone interference.. Maybe someone with access to an original CD could check this out?

Theremin
Yeah, I noticed this as well, it's pretty obviously there. Guess it was intentional.
mpolak21
Sorry guys, it was me. I was calling to Glenn to find out if he had braces. --Mike
rockinrob
That is the exact sound a cell phone makes when it is picked up by guitar pickups. I have to leave my cell phone in my gig bag for this very reason. It usually goes on for awhile and gets louder though, so I dont know whats going on. good catch! cryptique
My "MP3 rip" comment was wishful thinking, then. I didn't know it was also on the stream. Maybe someone in the band is reading this and they'll do a quick fix before Nonesuch starts pressing a bajillion CDs...
Guest Speed Racer
Um...Bull Black Nova is kind of a noise song. Regardless of whether its cellphone interference, is it that noticeable that it ruins the experience/sticks out? (Honest question; Speedy's at work so no downloads for me today.) cryptique
Regardless of whether its cellphone interference, is it that noticeable that it ruins the experience/sticks out?I'm not sure I'd have ever noticed it ... until Conrad pointed it out. Thanks a pantload, Conrad!
solace
when I saw Nels solo 2 summers ago he played his guitar with his cell phone making noise through the pickups... least i think it was his cell phone, maybe it was a keychain garage door opener? now i'm doubting myself

Conrad
Just wondering why you mind so much? Well, I'm not exactly losing sleep over it... just found it peculiar that they missed it, if it was unintentional.

Conrad
no way they "missed it" All right. I'll accept that it is a sign of the times then, to set the mood that we are in an age of technology. Or something.
cryptique
It's subtle enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they missed it.
