iamtryingtobreakyourspleen
Hi all I started reading rumors that there's gonna be a midnight Wilco show, late Thursday June 25 at the Wiltern.Does anyone know if this is true? Also, I might be selling my Tuesday tickets. And I'd rather sell it face to a legit Wilco fan. It's a pair in the mezzanine. ih8music
given that they play the following night (same day, actually) up at the mountain winery in saratoga (about 6 hrs away by car), I highly doubt it. they do have the 24th open, and I thought it was curious how they booked the 22nd & 23rd, and then the 25th. so maybe a midnight show on the 24th is possible - I had just assumed they left the date open for a tonight show appearance or something like that. bcart12
Not the same impact as the real Rick Roll. Still funny though.

PB808
Sweet Jesus! That was funny Not liking Wilco's current tour. They're skipping us San Diego folk. I've been a 'fan' since it cost $10 to see Tupelo play at Mississippi Nights.`And now I have the choice of driving 300 miles roundtrip to LA or Pomona, probably getting overpriced tix (High Road Touring seems to love venues that have high-scalping potential). Makes it a $400 or $500 night to see Wilco. Not worth it. I suppose it's sour grapes because something couldn't work out in San Diego, but THREE nights at the Wiltern? They could've done one night at the Greek. Methinks Wilco and "High Road" Touring are catering to a VIP audience. I mean it only costs $39.50 plus fees to see the band at the Saratoga Winery. Heart is playing there the week before, the B-52s are the week after. Wilco seems like they're aiming their tour at people with money and that's disappointing. If they were to play SD they'd be aiming for Humphrey's Half Moon. It's a "cougar" venue where David Byrne played`for $60 and up. Maybe the dad-rock thing isn't true, but it sure seems like daddy is trying to make bank off of his rock. Seriously, this is an anti-middle-class tour strategy. Perhaps "High Road" will book them for $75 tickets next time at an Indian Casino for the next soft-rock album. I'll remain disappointed that Tweedy deems venues more important than the people who like his band. And I still think Wilco opening with"I'm Always in Love" at the High Dive in Champaign was light years beyond the YHF show I saw in LA.
ih8music
Yeah, I'm also surprised they're not using that open date for a show in SD. But I don't think it's a fair argument to say that they're catering to a VIP audience. Tickets at the Fox and Wiltern were just $32-35. This day & age, for a band as established as Wilco, that's a bargain.
Doug C
PB808, I can understand your feelings. 6 shows in CA but not one in the SD area would be hard to swallow if I lived in San Diego. Hell, I can't figure out why they haven't been to the Tampa Bay area since February of 2005. I don't think that they are looking for big paydays, though. I hope that you'll be able to work out a road trip or they get to San Diego soon as they are tearing it up live these days.

Especially for us across the border where the same Wilco show is triple the price. Luckily I have a car and a passport.
