prefab
As a longtime Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Wilco fan I thought I'd jump on this forum and post about some news that I've been waiting a long time to come to fruition. One of the greatest bands (IMHO) that never quite broke it big from 80's/early 90's is releasing a "new" album. Prefab Sprout, the flagship for Paddy McAloon that brought us pop-albums gems like Steve McQueen and Jordan-the Comeback is releasing a new album in September. Originally conceived as a follow-up to Jordan, the long-shelved release has a early preview single that can be heard here: Find out more here:http://z6.invisionfree.com/sproutnet/index.php?showtopic=2084&st=0 And no I'm not looking to just spam and run; Wilco is a common subject over at Sproutnet.http://z6.invisionfree.com/sproutnet/index.php?showtopic=2055&st=0last Regards-Q

prefab
Sorry bro, not true. I can claim to have seen Jeff and company as the racing sausages up here in Milwaukee when they visited Miller Park. If I had a camel I'd take a pic in front of Mader's retsaurant and post it for ya. But thanks for the love man, appreciate it

If you are a fan of Wilco talk about them. When did you see them in concert, what songs do you like, do you like Nils? Give us something to go with besides peddeling a new album to show you are a fan. That is not a good first post.
Wendy
I vote ... NOT a street teamer! Because I LOVE Prefab Sprout! I know we've discussed them before, but it's been a while. (I'm thinking it was Mrs. Peel who was/is a fan, ???) And I still love it when a Prefab Sprout song comes up on my iPod shuffle. Steve McQueen (aka Two Wheels Good) is a classic album IMO. So thanks for the head's up! I'm definitely going to be checking this one out in September. BONUS: (for me anyway!) A visit to MySpace for Prefab Sprout revealed a few acoustic versions I've never heard before. Damn, this guy's voice is so beautiful. And the songs are pop music bliss to me. "Bonny" "Faron Young" "Appetite" damn! http://www.myspace.com/prefabsprout

Will you ever forgive me, can we be facebook friends? i'm so hoping! But Anyhoo, For those of you that may have heard of The Sprouts this is good news, for those of you that haven't and are looking for something new to check out, please do so. BTW fave show? The Rave Oct 9th 2007, I believe Overall I'd also say that Wilco the album has been a bit of a minor-disappointment to me, save for Bull Black Nova. But I really wasn't looking to pizz folks off or need to validate my Wilco-Cred badge.Take it for what it's worth.

Good grief, remphish1. It's Nels Cline! prefab, you're AOK in my book! Welcome to Via Chicago.
prefab
a bit of back-up from Wendy! Did you know Wendy is the back-up singer's name in Prefab? Anyway gotta-go folks, thanks for the time; and I really am looking forward to heaing Wilco on Finns' 7 Worlds Collide project. Now that project will be worth street teaming

Wendy
7 Worlds Collide II - we have already discussed at great length in "Just A Fan" section. I think anyone who likes the work of Neil Finn over the years would like Prefab Sprout. And I did know about "Wendy" on Prefab Sprout.

prefab
lesson for today: it is only street teaming if no one likes it. Or perhaps the lesson for today is:Make sure if you're gonna jump on a newbie and accuse them of something make dam sure you are right, then post. In all actuality I've run across way more 'bots then street teamers on the net. Maybe here its is different, but street teamers are more urban myth than real posters. Just my 2 cents. The one thing that makes me laugh about this thread is that I've had to defend Wilco against claims they are shite on the Sprout board now I come here and get flamed. Irony is beautiful. Is everyone here a CUBS fan or what? -that's just a joke boys
remphish1
Prefab I am not denying that you are a fan. The problem is over the years I have been on this page I have seen hundreds of people sign up to promote an album and never hear from them again. Your post came 20 minutes after you signed up. You also have a screen name that related to the product you are trying to promote(There is nothing wrong with using other bands names but for a first post that is a little suspicous). Why did you sign up? To disucss Wilco or to promote an album? We also just had a thread about street teamers less than a day ago. If you browsed the threads you would see that even people who were here for awhile are not subject to being called street teamers. Also you seemed to make a pretty quick judgement about me after your short time on this board. If you are a fan and are excited as much about Wilco as I am your time on this board will be fullfilling. People would also enjoy your comments and trust you a bit more if you introduced yourself as a first post.

Didn't see the thread on Teamers until after I had posted my initial and I should have been way more aware as you say.On the sites I usually frequent we really have way more probs with bots and their auto-ads for things like viagra and porn etc, than people trying to promote bands. Apparently it's a different story here. Above and beyond, to all here, I apologize at starting out on the wrong foot. I should have scoped things out a bit better before my OP. I just talked with a Prefab Sprout fan in Leeds UK who picked up tickets to Wilco in November and is psyched. That kind of give and take was what is was after here, not trying to irritate. Hope to hear and read more here as time goes by, it's been interesting so far -cheers

GtrPlyr
I really like some of those old Prefab discs I have... Or perhaps the lesson for today is:Make sure if you're gonna jump on a newbie and accuse them of something make dam sure you are right, then post.Well, to be fair to remphish1, your first post is promoting Prefab, and all your other posts are in this thread. You obviously joined this board to promote the bands new disc, which is fine, but you shouldn't act all uppity when someone calls you on it. Every week we see a poster join the board, start a thread claiming their love of Wilco, then go on to promote some CD... then they're never seen again. Call it cynical, but the MO is exactly the same as all the others. Bottom line, it wasn't the new Wilco record that made you want to join the board, but rather a new Prefab Sprout one, and that speaks volumes.
prefab
(Bottom line, it wasn't the new Wilco record that made you want to join the board, but rather a new Prefab Sprout one...) -sorry 'bout that, not used to this quote FNX Guilty as charged, as I've already "promoted" Wilco's discs on Prefab's board. Maybe due to the obscurity of Paddy McAloon we don't get many one posts and gone in our "other music" section there, but you are free to post and dash if you like. Also please bear in mind, if I come off as hyper-kinetic on the Prefab subject, we've had to wait 8+ years between releases since 1990; a stark contrast to the relativly prolific pace that Mr. Tweedy and company release material at. Jeff Tweedy is a superlative songwriterPaddy McAloon is a great songwriter in a bit different genre.I was trying to put the two fan-bases in contact, an admitedly ham-fisted attempt, but sincere nonetheless. keeprighton2
Have always thought Paddy McAloon was underappreciated. 'Bonny' is indeed a beauty, and 'Cars and Girls', while lampooning old Bruce is a fine tune. Anyone else think he sounds a bit like Mark Eitzel at times (American Music Club)? Sir Stewart
Holy flashback - you couldn't get away from Two Wheels Good for a few months in '85-'86. Then -woosh-.
