50footqueenie
Just f***ing awesome - great set list and the first five songs in were played as if it was going to be the last five. Glenn even broke his snare drum during 'Shot in the Arm' he was battering the kit like it was his last gig ever. We scored places right in front of John (my ears were still bleeding after being Clined the night before). Saw Jeff whip the camera from the guy from California - originally i thought he was pissed at him not paying attention, however he mouthed 'no video' at him. I don't think the taper was too pleased for the rest of the set. Too many highlights to remember - but Jeff's guitar playing was fabulous throughout - especially on ITMWLY - just stunning and he even played it over his head. I had to correct him though about his allusion to the Waterboys being an Irish band (yeh there were lots of Irish in the band from time to time but Mike Scott is from Edinburgh and it's HIS band), but he claimed to 'not understand me'. Anyway it was just a stunning show from start to finish and we can't wait till the next one - Milan in November - bring. it. on.
don_koharski
after the end of the show, the guy sitting next to me (who had never heard of wilco) said they were the best band he had ever seen.

That was you? I could hear you from the back of the venue. LOL! I heard Jeff tell you that he couldn't understand you. I thought the quip about Jesus/Bono at the end of Jesus, Etc was a classic. 50footqueenie
I'm surprised - was completely hoarse from hollerin' along for the two nights... The comments about the Cranberries were hilarious too - especially when Nels pointed out that his trousers should not be slagged for being 'cranberry coloured'. I didn't know the Irish felt the same about them too,(ie they are crap).
kagee
I heard you alright. I wasn't exactly hoarse but my voice was a bit knackered on Saturday after the 2 nights. It was my knees, hips and back that were suffering the most after the 2 gigs. I just can't stand/dance for 2.5 hours a night anymore. One of the drawbacks of getting old I suppose. I think Jeff was a bit surprised with the Cranberries reaction as well.
hillyfaekillie
Just two brilliant nights of music with Friday just pipping it.The first night i also was at left hand side of stage but never got "Clined" but got Spanished.Somehow got caught up in a circle of yabbering Spanish folk talked thru every moment.Ah well that's life.Hummingbird was a highlight as Jeff was Sans guitar and was giving it laldy with the microphone.Started swinging it 360 degrees by his side let it go and came crashing down near Mikaels keyboards.Hope Friday nights set pops up on the Owl this was absolutely the best i have seen the band blistering
broc
I must have been standing right beside you because I was completely surrounded by those Spaniards as well. I don't mind a little chat but some of that crowd talked right through a lot of songs. Gutted I couldn't see the second night but the first night was the best of theirs I've seen since 2002. Good to hear the better songs from WTA.
W(TF)
That`s indeed a great setlist. Please give us details on the Jesus-Bono comment.
JorgyBrussels
That`s indeed a great setlist. Please give us details on the Jesus-Bono comment. I must admit I didnt comprehend the joke too well. It was after Jesus etc. and Jeff Said something like 'theres a lot of Jesus in Dublin' and continued saying its all about Bono(If I remember correctly)
jay1966
when the song was finished he said it was appropriate to be playing it in ireland as after all jesus lived there ie boneoh.
kagee
That`s indeed a great setlist. Please give us details on the Jesus-Bono comment. Jeff was trying to make a link between every song and and Irish artist after the Thin Lizzy/Impossible Germany comment. After Jesus etc he said "that song was influenced by Jesus who of course lives in Dublin". The crowd cheered and he added "or as you call him Bono". That got a mixture of boos and cheers. Made me laugh though. Jeff went on to say something else but I can't remember exactly what.

Chinese Apple
Happened right in front of me, some kept flashing while taking pictures. Happened during 'trying to break my heart'. It was Jeff himself who grabbed camera (or cellphone) and he was very very pissed by the look on his face. During the song he came a couple of times in front to shout at him. I was to the left of the couple when this happened. Jeff said "No videos" and then later he said "You'll get it back."

I have it and it sounds fantastic for an audience taping. That being said, my original request was for someone to capture and share the Roadcase version, which is a compressed soundboard version. "capture and sharing" is not something I would know anything about, obviously. Maybe they will release another live CD? It's been a while since Kicking Television. Livin' in New Orleans
Yeah but if someone does capture it, let me know... it sounds great on the website!
sonnyfeeling
Yeah but if someone does capture it, let me know... it sounds great on the website! I could easily do something like this, but am reluctant as it seems like something the band would not approve of. I mean, if they wanted to make this a downloadable show, they would have, right? Also, the QuickTime stream is very highly compressed, not exactly archive quality. Would appreciate input from a moderator... PS: We were at both nights in Vicar Street. Thursday was excellent, but this night was transcendent. After listening to this recording, I am even more convinced it is one for the ages. Hope this soundboard recording gets officially released in its full audio glory someday.
