I can't help but think of the moth/flame analogy -- even after the moth gets singed the first time and pain is inflicted and it knows it hurts, it goes back for more anyway. That is an addict's dilemma.

 

I think the situation is a bit more complex than a moth and a flame (which, I know, you understand). In your original post, you suggest that she would have to assume more responsibility if she took any initiative in planning any of their encounters.

 

I would argue this: if Mackenzie had been assaulted by her father repeatedly, then she had nearly no control of her life or her body. The one thing she DID have control of was when the encounters happened. Planning them, arguably, was her one known - she didn't have to worry when the next assault would occur.
