Yes, you are correct. But it's also a commentary on the treatment of women as they get older in Hollywood. So it's funny to hear an awards show named the Golden Globes (picture Christina Hendricks above) and then it's followed by the SAG Awards (picture anything you want). (Sandra Bullock handed out the Lifetime Achievement Award to Betty White at the SAGs and she mentioned how amazing it was for a woman to be in Hollywood for over 6 decades.)

 

Edit: In fact, there's a myth/conspiracy theory that some # of actresses who have won the Best Actress Oscar (maybe in the past decade or 20 years) have done nudity. Since 2000 the only actress to have won and not done nudity in her career was Julia Roberts (stunt double in Pretty Woman).

 

The gist of this myth is that an actress does nudity to get "noticed" and get into an "Oscar" type picture. The actual film that the actress usually wins for ironically usually has no nudity at all. If you take a look at the list of losers for this past decade, you might start buying into the theory as well. Or maybe not, since most "losers" have done nudity as well. The article I read really makes the case though.

Commentary on 2010 Awards so far: Am I the only one to be upset that Meryl Streep and Sandra Bullock keep beating out Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) & Carey Mulligan (An Education) ?! Now keep in mind I haven't seen either Precious or An Education, but from what I've read both actresses really nail their roles and what their roles are all about. Both are coming of age stories from a woman's perspective: one in 1963 London and the other in present day NYC. How rare is it to have a coming of age story for a woman? Before Juno came out I can't pinpoint anything in my mind to an actual release date. I usually find that the Oscar's are nothing more but a popularity contest or better yet a "year late-make up for it year later" award. Take Russell Crowe in 99 he lost with his role in Insider and won for Gladiator in 00?! There's definitely a few more examples of this, but I won't bore you with them.

 

So why should we be upset? Well, for one everyone including Hollywood always says that there aren't enough good roles for women. And in this year you have 2 nominees who are playing very young women with very real emotions and issues. So why have they been losing to Sandra Bullock? Is it because her movie is a feel good movie compared to Precious? It felt like Sandra Bullock being a feisty Sandra Bullock. I liked The Blind Side, but I didn't watch it thinking Oscar. I can kind of understand Meryl Streep winning for playing an actual person that most people know. But it's still Meryl Streep in high platform shoes and makeup and somebody goosing her off camera to make her voice go high.

 

Maybe Gabourey and Carey are being left out, so that they can go and do "better" work in the future? Past Oscar nominee(s) Keisha Castle Hughes hasn't been seen since she was nominated for Whale Rider and Ellen Page has appeared in a handful of pretty decent films. Of course, it could just boil down to the "popularity" of Streep and Bullock's movies. I don't know. I did make an effort to see An Education on my birthday and they cancelled the showing (so they could break down the film print and send it off to La La Land).

Speaking of boobs, I was just told that Dexter's girlfriend (from the show Dexter to be clear) gets a boob job between seasons 2 and 3. Is that True? Say it ain't so! I'm just finishing up season 2. She is adorable and does not need fakies.

According to the internet it's all speculation. People say that she wore "prosthetic breasts" due to her character being pregnant (strange I know). Other people say that she had a breast lift. Others say that she's always been like that, but she got pregnant around that time and that made the difference.

 

Her name is Julie Benz. Not to be confused with Julie Bowen.
