John Paul
Hey all. Big time Wilco fan, actually seeing them for the first time in April in Hartford, CT. Anyways, just wanted to share with you guys a short cover I did of Jesus etc. as my first post. Just got a webcam, so I've been very amused by it. Anyways, I realize I'm not Jeff Tweedy, so be easy on me, lol.
Dude
You might wanna move that capo from 2nd to 5th fret to be in the proper key. Otherwise not too bad.

Well I put it at the second fret because I have an easier time singing it there. I don't have much of a voice or much range, lol.
MattZ
Nice work, John Paul. Don't sweat the capo comment. The goal is to play it in the key you sing it in, not the key Jeff sings it in. Dude is just being a Wilco guitar nerd (fwiw, I am in that club too).

Haha, it's understandable, I'm a music nerd as well, so I can relate. Thank you for your kind comments.

I'm a guitar nerd too, although I experiment with playing Wilco tunes in different keys. Or tuning down a whole step and playing the songs in their right keys with different chord fingerings...makes for some interesting sounds.
Guest Speed Racer
My favorite covers of songs are always ones where the musician makes the song their own. Except for "Any Major Dude," a faithful cover that Wilco rocks. But other than that (and with the exception of that Ashes cover with the horribly wrong chord), I love when the musician does what they need to do to be comfortable in the song. Are you saying that applies to mine? or does not? either way...it's cool, haha.
Guest Speed Racer
Ha! My office computer has no sound, so I really can't speak to yours. But I was saying that if you can't sing at capo 5, playing a "true" cover of the song is going to be nowhere near as good as playing in capo 2, where the song is better for your own musicianship. bjorn_skurj
I think my last post will be my cover of "Theologians."

I'll cope somehow.
jmacomber68w
Do we know who did this jesus etc? That video came in handy when I started playing guitar
Moss
Sounded pretty good. That's an interesting guitar you have, looks like it has an electric guitar neck on it.

Yeah it's a Fender Sonoran, a remake of acoustics they used to make in California in the 1960's where they put electric type heads on acoustic guitars. It's a very nice and warm sounding, and I think it was only like $300.

But it looks cool!
