bböp
Starting a new thread for post-show discussion because, well, the other one didn't have a date or venue in the title. I know it's anal. Whatever. As for the show, I think it was kind of funny that Wilco went from playing in maybe the nicest theatre in Canada two days ago to finishing their Tundra Tour in basically a big shed next to a hockey rink (that apparently is often used as a bingo parlor) tonight. That's the versatility of Wilco, I guess: they can be highbrow and lowbrow. I loved when Afie (of Bahamas) said, with sort of a wry smile on his face, "Hello, Halifax...Multi-Purpose Room!" Anyway, here was Wilco's complete setlist as played: —"Trololo Guy" intro music—Wilco (the song)A Shot in the ArmBull Black NovaYou Are My FaceIATTBYH>One WingVia ChicagoImpossible Germany—crew intros and "Happy Birthday" sung to merch guy Andy—California StarsHandshake DrugsYou Never KnowMisunderstoodJesus, etc. (crowd singalong)Hate It HereWalkenI'm The Man Who Loves YouHummingbird-------------------The Late GreatsTheologians—"Happy Birthday" sung to merch guy Andy (take 2)—Heavy Metal DrummerCan't Stand It (started and restarted)KingpinCasino QueenHoodoo VoodooI'm A Wheel

They played Theologians instead of Ashes of America. Ashes of America was soundchecked that afternoon. Also were going to play Sonny Feeling after California Stars but didn't since Jeff's guitar wasn't working properly. Here are some pics that I took: http://thebrokenspeaker.wordpress.com/2010/03/04/photos-wilco-03-03-2010/ I'll be doing a show review soon.

50footqueenie
I can't effing believe they are using that 'Trololo' intro - man I saw that on Aquarium Drunkard blog last weekend and having finshed pissing my pants, have had the tune stuck in my head ever since!!! It is pure comedy gold - they should project the video pre show too!

Here are some pics that I took: http://thebrokenspeaker.wordpress.com/2010/03/04/photos-wilco-03-03-2010/ I'll be doing a show review soon. Before Theologians, Jeff said, "Normally we don't encourage this kind of behavior, but someone's been yelling out for this song all night." And with Sonny Feeling, he got his guitar, discovered that it was out of tune or something, felt along the fretboard, looked over at Matrix and then said, "Uh, let's just move onto the next song." I believe he added, with a half grin, "Normally we're more professional than this." That was indicative of the goofy end-of-tour mood all night. Another one came when a group of kids in front of Nels collectively yelled out, "Nels Fucking Cline!" and timed it perfectly as the band was launching into Can't Stand It. Needless to say, the song never got off the ground so they had to restart it. Heh heh. By the way, never knew the Trololo Guy was so popular! I think if they could somehow project the video as well, it would be gold!
Briggins
I put a review of the concert up on my blog. Definitely one of the best shows I've been to. Hope you enjoy the review and pictures!http://thebrokenspeaker.wordpress.com/2010/03/04/wilco/
Papillon Parade
Ahhhh, what a great show! That'll be my 5th show and they get better every time. Everyone played in fine form and Pat was looking DAMN good with his new beard
HappyHourHero
Probably my least favourite venue I've seen Wilco in and my least favourite overall show/setlist... but when you live in Atlantic Canada and get to see Wilco without driving 8 hours and using any vacation days, it's always win-win! I thought the sound was pretty dodgy for the first few songs, but cleaned up after that. The drums were buried in the mix all night though. It will be interesting to see what surfaces for recordings of this show because I know a board feed was granted. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but is John rocking a left-handed Fender P-bass strung upside down for Bull Black Nova? Nels' Nash tele looked and sounded sweet. There's no better feeling than going to a rock show and pumping your fist and yelling "Nothing" thirty-some times in a row. Fack I love this band.

Yeah unfortunately that venue was not designed for rock and roll. I was becoming deaf courtesy of Jeff's amps being right up front so I couldn't accurately comment on what the overall sound was like. I really hope a bootleg pops up, I didn't know a board feed was granted, that is pretty awesome!

Nels' Nash tele looked and sounded sweet. I know even less about basses than I do guitars, but John definitely was using a different-looking bass on Bull Black Nova than I've noticed before this tour. Unfortunately I didn't have a very good angle to take a picture of it at any of the shows. Here's a decent photo I took of Nels playing the Nash tele in Halifax, though:
HeatherM
Hi, I'm new, but I just wanted to say that it was a great show. I wrote a review on my blog, which is just me and my friend enjoying our dorkiness, so the review is also dorky.

NSsurfer
Great show, I am also new here. I love the fact that Jeff hates videotaping, it makes people live in the moment and enables them to have nothing but their memories to cherish and remember the concert. I also loved how the band was "less professional" this show, as i found it created a relationship between the crowd and band that isn't seen too often. Great Show
HappyHourHero
I love that I've discovered two Hali-based blogs from this thread. Do either of you review local stuff?
Briggins
I love that I've discovered two Hali-based blogs from this thread. Do either of you review local stuff? Yup, I try to cover as much local stuff as I can get out to and afford on a tight university budget. Canadian music is what I love. Also I changed my blog from thebrokenspeaker.wordpress.com to www.thebrokenspeaker.com A little easier to remember and type.
HeatherM
Hi, I just started my blog with my friend, I don't go to a lot of local shows, but I love writing about music (I'll have a post up about Bruce Springsteen tomorrow). Did anyone see Wilco when they opened for Neil Young at the Metro Centre? I came late and wasn't familiar with their music at the time, plus I was in the nosebleeds. How about back in 2006 when they played Alderney Landing?
Papillon Parade
A couple of photos from the show My Savior -
