Sweet Papa Crimbo
From the bastion of internet information Wikipedia In 2003, ZZ Top released a final RCA album, Mescalero, an album thick with harsh Gibbons guitar and featuring a hidden track – a cover version of "As Time Goes By". RCA impresario Clive Davis wanted to do a collaboration record (in the mode of Carlos Santana's successful Supernatural) for this album. In an interview in Goldmine magazine, artists Pink, Dave Matthews, and Wilco were among the artists slated for the project. The mind boggles...
nalafej
Yes indeed. Billy flew Jeff to Texas where Jeff spent a day teaching Billy Casino Queen. Jeff talked about this at a Vic solo show the year before last I believe.
Analogman
That's insult to both bands.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
That's insult to both bands. Hey...I don't make this shit up. I was just asking if it was true or if the wikifools were at it again.
Analogman
Oh I believed it. I just hate that formula as much as I hate the cover album formula.
Sir Stewart
Yeah Clive Davis can go blow - he's the king of these stupid projects. Glad this didn't happen!
Analogman
Of course, what is funny to me is that Rod Stewart and Santana are two of the dudes that really move me. But - they are reduced to putting out crap now. I am curious to know how Jeff ended up in that mix.

Tweedling
I'd pay a lot of money to watch/listen to ZZ Top do Casino Queen.
The High Heat
When Wilco opened up for the Stones I thought it'd be so cool if both bands played Casino Queen together, but, alas, there was no co-mingling of shared playlists that night. Not that I was there anyway.
