choo-choo-charlie
To echo the sentiments of other threads asking for good vibes, prayers - whatever people can offer - I too would like to ask for the same, as my mother, two older brothers and I laid my father to rest last week. He passed away Sunday, September 12th, tragically and unexpectedly, at the age of 60. My father nurtured my earliest interest in music and bought me my first guitar when I was 13. I've got plenty of songs in my library that remind me of him and offer comfort in this sad time, but I know that there are others I've probably not heard and could use at this time. I'd appreciate any tips that you all can offer...
smells like flowers
You have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your father. I hope music, memories, and the love of friends and family comfort you at this awful time. Have you ever heard A Song for You, by Gram Parsons? (Whiskeytown also does a wrenching version of it.) It's achingly sad but somehow comforting at the same time.
lamradio
Sorry for your loss.. My deepest sympathies and vibes go out to you and your family. When I'm feeling down, Emotionalism by The Avett Brothers is a great comfort album . There's just something about it that makes me smile every time, and I hope that it may do the same for you. Magnetized
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. Whether it's following a long illness or a sudden tragedy, there's nothing like the loss of a parent. When my mom died I remember that the song "After You're Gone" by Iris Dement (off her Infamous Angel album) was very meaningful to me. It's simple but profound, and it still brings me to tears whenever I hear it. I hope it brings you even a small measure of solace.
froggie
sorry for your loss. with me, it can be either happy or sad tune, as long it reminds me of that period. i lost my grandparents in '96 and '99, and listening to songs of that era takes me back
Lynch
Heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. I lost my Dad two summers ago and music played a huge part in helping me through one of the worst times of my life. One song that always comforts me is "There Is A Light" by Great Lake Swimmers. Nothing but the most comforting vibes coming your way.......
