Magnetized
I assume lots of you have seen these old videos, but they are just so awesome and joyful, my face is about to burst from grinning. There's somebody named Pants Elderly. AKA Sticky on this board, maybe also AKA Chris, who must've been friends with the band even before they became Uncle Tupelo.. He shot so much golden footage over the years. Here's a link to footage from a halloween concert in 10/85 wherein one Jeff Tweedy is looking mighty fine in a lace-trimmed dress. And that is apparently Pants Elderly himself flailing around the stage covered in fake blood.[Mods: Are we past the statute of limitations on direct links to these performances? Magnetized
Also, poking around for Wilco footage from Beavis and Buthead, i cams across these this early Wilco video with Jeff doing a convincing impersonation of a very buzzed frontman, complete with hair shaking and midriff -baring tummy shaking. I'll tell ya, Jay looks like the stern, sober one!. And the piece de resistance: a crowd-surfing Jeff! There's gold in them thar youtubes!
Magnetized
And then there's this very early 3-part interview (audio only) with a leisurely, quietly confident Jeff giving a very good interview over the phone about 14 years ago, when Spencer was 15 months old. It's completely charming. Stay tuned to next post for parts 2 and 3. . .

Papillon Parade
I love this old stuff. It's like looking through an old family photo album, "Oh look! It's uncle Jimmy with hair!"

choo-choo-charlie
Somehow, I missed the very first post in this thread. That clip with the dress-wearing bass playing Tweedy is GOLD. I think that's him on the background screams at the end too.
