Moss
Got high hopes for this! Coming in January: http://www.mojo4music.com/blog/2011/09/guided_by_voices_classic_line.html Guided By Voices classic '90s line-up will release an album of new material in January 2012.The cult, low-fi heroes - Robert Pollard, Tobin Sprout, Greg Demos, Mitch Mitchell and Kevin Fennell - have returned to the studio to record Let's Go Eat The Factory. It will be this line-up's first new LP since 1996's fan favourite Under The Bushes, Under The Stars. The band have just completed a year-long reunion tour.Let's Go Eat The Factory will be released on January 1, 2012.Here's the modest (by GBV standards at any rate) 21-strong track list:Laundry And LasersThe HeadDoughnut For A SnowmanSpiderfighterHang Mr. KiteGod Loves UsThe Unsinkable Fats DominoWho Invented The SunThe Big Hat And Toy ShowImperial RacehorsingHow I Met My MotherWavesMy EuropaChocolate BoyThe Things That Never NeedEither NelsonCyclone Utilities (Remember Your Birthday)Old BonesGo Rolling HomeThe Room Taking ShapeWe Won't Apologize For The Human Race
PopTodd
Hear about this and am looking forward to it.Happen to know if any of these are Toby songs?
Doug
Yes, there are a few Toby songs on the upcoming album. Not exactly sure how many, but I think 3 or 4. Also, there's a GbV album out in May called Class Clown Spots a UFO comprised of rare, previously recorded GbV tunes, whereas Let's Go Eat the Factory is all new songs. pathfire
Seems to be news that this lineup has broken up???!? Cancelled all of their 2012 appearances. 12/7/11 Unfortunately, Guided By Voices are canceling their appearances at Primavera and ATP/I'll Be Your Mirror, due to personal reasons. The band apologizes for any inconvenience and disappointment, and thanks Primavera, ATP and the fans for their longterm support. This is a major bummer! www.robertpollard.net
tinnitus photography
well it's unclear as to what 'break-up' means (and that whole concept of the band being back together is a bit weird anyway...they do have two records out, but i figured that was gonna be it, w/ some 2012 shows to tour on), but this sucks. pathfire
And just like that, this was posted on Pollard's Facebook: Guided by Voices have not split up and continue to work on new material together. In addition to the album release of Let's Go Eat the Factory for January, the band are at work on another album, Class Clown Spots A UFO, which will be released in May. Robert Pollard will also be releasing a solo album, Mouseman Cloud in March.
