Autumnteeth
This may be the best venue for concerts I have ever had the honor to visit. One Sunda Morning carried without background hiss, and Art of Almost tore the place to shreds without distortion. Nick Lowe was unreal. I didn't expect an accoustic set, was a little worried when I saw that's what was going down, but he blew me away. He played a tune off of his new album that if you closed your eyes you could hear Conor Oberst doing. I am not going to get into the Bright Eyes debate but what a great night. The sound in this place is awesome. I was worried loud songs would not be compatible with a layout designed for accoustic operatic sounds but I am an idiot.
tinnitus photography
who hit the operatic final note on "Candyfloss"?

nalafej
Yes, Nick has played a handful of times in Chicago the past few years. I've seen him solo acoustic at Park West and The Green Mill 2008 (also attend by Mr. Sansone), plus full band at Old Town. I talked to him after the Monday show and he said that he was working out a U.S. tour for the Spring of 2012 and that Chicago would most likely be on the list. He actually asked about other venues that might be good for him. We suggested Lincoln Hall. Later I realized I should have suggested SPACE. "Nick Lowe and His Band" are playing the Park West April 20th and tickets go on sale this Saturday for those that have been waiting to see what venue he would play... Looks like Mavis is playing Milwaukee tonight, I woke up wondering if a reprise of The Weight given Levon's passing was in order.
