Jeff Tweedy lead vocals on songs by Uncle Tupelo and Golden Smog?

Recommended Posts

I'll try & get back to you on this (very busy), as I just did CD-R comps of all this type of stuff...editing it to the Tweedy lead vocal stuff first, then the ones he'd written...Uncle Tupelo, Loose Fur, Golden Smog, The Minus Five, the thing he did with his son- The Raccoonists I think it's called, Jeff Tweedy solo stuff is worth trying to compile as well...

I just don't know if I can cut & paste my iTunes playlists (seem to think that I can't)

The thing is, if you have the albums, it's really pretty easy to figure out on your own...

That was going to be my suggestion too. Slightly snarky, but it is pretty obvious with UT, although less so with Golden Smog. Considering Tweedy is pretty much just on two GS albums and he sings lead on the ones he wrote, it isn't hard to figure out either.

Yeah....I wasn't sure if there was a way to avoid the snark, but I think one would be "shortchanging" themselves by only seeking out Tweedy material among that written and sung by his mates in each of those groups.

Uncle Tupelo – Give Back The Key To My Heart

Questionable...

You are correct. I remembered it was a duet, but forgot it was Doug Sahm doing the second verse.

Uncle Tupelo – Blues Die Hard - 1987 Demo

Uncle Tupelo – I Wanna Destroy You - B Side

These are Farrar.

You are correct.

I totally agree, you really can't go wrong those albums. I have them on my iPod and I created two playlists, "Jeff Tweedy: Uncle Tupelo Songs" and "Jeff Tweedy: Golden Smog Songs", so depending on my mood I can have them both ways.

Please don't forget No Poetry. And to be honest, I could understand anyone trying to cut right to the Tweedy vocal stuff. Despite the conventional thought about UT, Farrars vocals are like nails on a chalkboard to me. Oh, and don't forget No Poetry.

No More Poetry might be my favorite NonWilco JT song
