Muzzle of Dan
Very interesting... Here's hoping they fill that week-long hole between Reno and LA with a few more SoCal area-ish gigs... I'm still crossing my fingers for a Vegas show.
nalafej
Funny that Grand Sierra Theater calls out "Box Full of Letters" and (although not surprising given the venue) "Casino Queen" as their hits - both from 17 years ago and not as recognizable as other Wilco songs. "Indie veterans Wilco are returning to Reno for the first time since 2009! Almost a year after releasing their 8th studio album “The Whole Love,” this Chicago-born band will play hits like “Box Full of Letters” and “Casino Queen” inside the Grand Theatre at Grand Sierra Resort. Tickets are just $39.50 and opening bands will be announced at a later date. "
Shug
Casinos are so cheesy, cluelessly assuming they know what songs a band like Wilco is gonna play. This ain't some washed up nostalgia act that is guaranteed to play their "hits" (as if Wilco ever had any hits). For some reason, this kind of thing bugs the shit out of me. " That is great...If I was going to list the Hits...It would be Jesus, HMD, I'm the Man, Via Chicago....PLus I doubt they will play both of not either of those songs. They should advertise with....They will open the show with at 10 minute mellow song on 1/2 the crowd has heard....so so can leave and get back your blackjack seat. kidsmoke
It's huge, for one thing...I don't like to see the band looking like tiny little matchstick men!

Bad acoustics (although I guess it's significantly better than before). Horrible LA traffic to get there (I live in orange county). Sad to say, but I'll probably pass on this one if that's the only venue they're playing down here.
IRememberDBoon
haha. damn i didnt realize it was that big. i dont really go to wilco shows at merriweather for that reason. too big for me. unless you get first ten rows where its no less than 130 degrees
Muzzle of Dan
I have seen Radiohead (twice), Paul McCartney and Sonic Youth/Pavement at the Hollywood Bowl since I've moved out here. I really enjoyed each show I've seen there and the sound has always been stellar. I managed to get super close Garden Box seats for Wilco and it will be the closest I've sat at that venue (hopefully the boys won't look like ants from there). All that said, it will be awesome if they play some smaller venues in the week leading up to that show. Seeing as the Bowl show isn't sold out yet, I'm not expecting multiple LA shows this time around - though I would be pretty happy to be proven wrong on that last point. Queen Amaranthine
I was hoping their fall tour schedule would help me decide something. This fall I have two opportunities to rack up professional development hours for work through conferences in neighboring states, but the two are on the same dates. By the time I balance out conference content, professional benefit, personal interest, fees, travel costs, colleague interest to share expenses, etc., it's a wash either way. I was hoping Wilco or Tweedy would be in one place or the other on one of those conference dates so my decision would be made for me. No such luck; the band is in Europe that weekend. Back to flipping a coin!
duzer
Sure looks like they need to play the Santa Barbara Bowl....
