scottyb
Looks like Rockpalast aired Wilco's August 11th performance at Haldern Pop. You can download the DVD files here: http://www.guitars101.com/forums/f146/dvdfull-wilco-2012-08-11-rees-haldern-de-pro-shot-145302.html And I've compiled the footage that's made it to YouTube here: http://www.glidemagazine.com/hiddentrack/pro-shot-videos-wilco-haldern-pop-festival-on-rockpalast-some-of-the-best-live-wilco-footage-youll-ever-see/ I was blown away by the quality of both the broadcast and the performance. The director was familiar enough with the band's music to know where to focus. - Scotty
Robby
The DVD files are also currently available on EZTorrent (Dime A Dozen)..

EatMorePez
The audio/video quality of this recording is outstanding. Anybody know why Nels' usual '59 Jazzmaster is nowhere to be found? (He's using the all black back up Jazzmaster throughout.) And when did he start playing that gold Les Paul?
choo-choo-charlie
The goldtop LP has been around for a while. It used to belong to Duane Allman.
calvino
I think the Gold Top still belongs to the Allman Family - Nels is just borrowing it - could be wrong, though. It's great that the guitar got over to Europe. I don't think Duane ever played in Europe, Hell, has the Allman Brothers ever played in Europe? Anyway - beautiful guitar. Choo Choo Charlie
Hmmm...great visuals but I wasn't impressed by the mix. Specifically, Nels' guitar was way too loud in places - louder than Jeff's vocal. Without getting into an argument over Nels' guitar playing - which I am not going to - it just annoys me when engineers forget that the vocal is King. Nels' parts, I feel, are best enjoyed sparingly and never made too obvious (ie. loud!) I wonder if TV remixed this concert from the multi tracks as can often happen (!) Surely Stan Doty would never have placed Nels' that high in the live mix?
calvino
Listening to it on laptop with headphones (and only a few songs), I think the mix is fine, Nels is loud, but not bad-loud. The Les Paul he is playing on Standing O isn't Duane's. Does he play a Les Paul in another song?
EatMorePez
The Duane Allman guitar that Nels has borrowed over the last year for shows in Atlanta, Nashville, Austin, and St. Augustine (see below) did not have a Bigsby tailpiece on it like the one this Germany video does. I don't think it's the same guitar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGU2H152z0M
