Mr. Heartbreak
Might as well set this up now. It's a bitch trying to remember the Topic Title format whilst using my thumbs on a smart phone. Anybody up for tracking the set list and posting it? I don't wanna be a glory hog. Feeling lazy today, too.

Robby
The combo of We 've Been Had followed by Give Back the Key to My Heart goes back to the Uncle Tupelo days.I wish I had seen that.
Doug C
The combo of We 've Been Had followed by Give Back the Key to My Heart goes back to the Uncle Tupelo days.I wish I had seen that.Yes it does. Jeff even prefaced with how he and John had been in Wilco together for 20 years but they'd been in a band together, looking at John, "for what 23-24 years?". John concurred. Jeff said that there where going to play 2 songs from that band, Uncle Tupelo. Then they attacked them with love.
smells like flowers
What a night! Still reeling. I love a show that opens with ALTWYS. But to have Red Eyed/I Got You right up front was crazy! So fast out of the gate. I remember thinking, "wait! I'm not ready yet!"Great, great show. As promised, that venue was perfect for Wilco. We walked in just as the opener finished and were able to get pretty close-- good sight lines. Excellent sound. Ready for more on Friday night!
Doug C
Yes on all accounts. As soon as they launched into Red Eyed..., my wife and I immediately turned to each other, sharing "This is going to be a special night" looks. We came back upstairs just after Royal Thunder (gah!), and had spectacular views 1/3 to 1/4 of the way back, standing between Jeff and John. Someone just behind us was smoking pot every second song. The smell was constant. I was surprised that they were never busted. They had to be freaking baked.
Mr. Heartbreak
It was indeed one for the books. Unfortunately, I'm not really expecting any full length recording to surface. Security there is the typical theme park deal where they search your bags, make you go through a metal detector, etc...so I'm guessing no one smuggled in a recording rig.It was a night where the band was dialed into what the fans really wanted to hear, in an almost supernatural way. Right before the show, suites (Hal) and I were talking, and he asked me what song I would really like to hear. I said, "One they're not likely to play: We've Been Had." He told me he would like to hear At Least That's What You Said. True story! When Jeff began the hootenanny encore with the announcement about two Uncle Tupelo songs, I was floored. They launched into We've Been Had, and my night was made. It was the first time I'd ever caught the song at a show. There is a story behind my request (purely selfish motives, of course. Ha!). All the way back in 2002, Wilco played four shows in Florida. I was able to make 3 of the 4, but the one I missed was the ONLY show of the 4 where they played We've Been Had. I was envious of those who caught it. And to make it worse, no recording of that show ever surfaced. So I did, er, request it from the Wilco site. I may have gotten a few other people to request it too...or not. As soon as Jeff went into Give Back the Key to My Heart - which I had also been requesting online for these FL shows, since I saw they have been playing it a lot during encores - it hit me that they used to do We've Been Had > Give Back during Uncle Tupelo shows...including the very last UT show. It was a surreal moment. When was the last time Wilco played back to back UT songs? Been a while, I would imagine.Anyway, great, great night. Thanks to Frisbetarian for posting the setlist. Sorry we did not catch up with smells like flowers or Doug and Mrs. C...Maybe next one? It was a pleasure to see suites and his son again, and to meet Rob right after the show. Hope I did not seem like I was blowing you off, man. My brain was on overload, and I had to get out of there so I could function at work today.
Kingpin1214
One hell of a show...this was my 10th Wilco show and the setlist was one of the best I've seen. I couldn't have asked for much more. Finally got to hear 'Cars Can't Escape' full band as well. And man do I love "Box Full of Letters". On my way into the venue all I could think was that this is the weirdest place to see a Wilco show...and the crowd was actually pretty great considering it was all over the map. There were two guys near me who were pounding jack and cokes and the guy literally fell over like a tree after the opener. Thankfully that was the last of them. Speaking of the opener...noooo! why?! Otherwise, it was a pretty wonderful night listening to my favorite band. Work today though is another story
Mr. Heartbreak
Awesome shots! I took a handful, but haven't had a chance to upload them yet.
rockinrob
Awesome shots! I took a handful, but haven't had a chance to upload them yet. Did you see the youtube link? They had mics facing the crowd, which are used in live recordings to keep from sounding weird, so this one was more than likely taped by them. I guess we can only hope it gets approved for a roadshow release? The hard rock nazis will probably keep anyone from hearing this one, even though it was a great show. I wish I had tried to sneak my zoom record in...
Mr. Heartbreak
Did you see the youtube link? Very cool. I really hope it's released as a Roadcase. I'd get it. Some Banter Corner nuggets for those who peruse this forum (we know who we are, don't we?): Whereas in Tallahassee, Jeff greeted the crowd and said, "It's been a long time...10 years...you look good," in Orlando it was, "It's been a long time...I like what you've done with the place." Having seen the Tally show made the line a lot funnier. As always, standup comedy still seems like an option if the whole rock band thing doesn't work out. During the encores, a guy came right up next to me and wanted to hand an original hand-drawn (or painted) framed piece to Jeff. He was asking if one of us could get it to him. I told him, "I don't think you're going to be able to get it across the barricade." But sure enough, Jeff saw him holding it up and actually came to the stage's edge and grabbed it. After he said thanks to the guy, he said, "You should all have brought me one," or something like that. Pretty funny. Rob captured a nice photo of it. After Cars Can't Escape (or Magazine...I forget which, but it was one of the rarities), Jeff went into a bit about how the song was requested by exactly one person. Then he said something like, "Actually, these are the most-requested songs. If you don't know them, maybe you should study up next time." He cracked himself up with that one, I believe. Really hard to remember the exact wording of this stuff. No doubt I'll be embarrassed by how much my memory failed me, if a recording does surface. But you get the gist, right? Doug C
TREMENDOUS--- show- Rockin--really up-BEAT-- GREAT SOUND--------was that the Sammy Hagar influenced version of Kamera?....................could be..................... Regarding Sammy Hagar, I found it quite ironic when Jeff asked for a show of hands of all who were at the Sammy Hagar show the night before. He said that he wondered how much crossover Wilco had. I'd wager that there is more fan crossover between Wilco and Sammy Hagar than between Wilco and Royal Thunder. I have an alternate universe fantasy where Royal Thunder comes out and plays their first song, then Jeff comes out and says, "We're just having a laugh. Some of you might have seen our real opener last night. Please welcome Sammy Hagar and The Circle!". The crowd goes wild, more out of relief than Hagar love. Maybe I'm wrong, but I can't imagine anyone in Wilco cueing up a Royal Thunder album for their listening pleasure.
Frisbetarian
Right.! and then Jeff and Paul and at least one other band member raised their hands so maybe they did check out Sammy,,,,,,,,I really picked up that he / They were doing a little Sammy send up during Camera......................... Heart full of holes
So, Paul's officially in the band now?
Mr. Heartbreak
So, Paul's officially in the band now? I figured he meant John. People always get John and Paul mixed up, because they're the most well-known members. I know it wasn't George or Ringo.
Frisbetarian
YEs I am a mixed up sleep deprived Frisbetarian who is now a TWeedy-ite and certainly not unfamiliar with Mr. Stirratt--- having S Hagar delusions doesn't help..............please excuse my numerous mistakes--I am a faithful Wilco and UT fan
Mr. Heartbreak
Don't take it too hard...there is a LOT of chops-busting on here, frisbetarian. And thanks again for posting the setlist. I really didn't want to be whipping out my cell every five minutes in the GA pit.
