Wilco -- Big Ears (Knoxville, TN) March

Recommended Posts

Searched and didn't see this discussed in detail anywhere, so I'll ask here:

Currently, Wilco is listed as playing each day of the Big Ears Festival in Knoxville, TN, in March.   I'm guessing that they will only play one day or night there.  Anyone have any solid information concerning Wilco at this festival?

Also, does anyone know how ticketing will work for the Wilco show?  Right now, the festival is selling Festival/Weekend passes with day passes on sale soon.  I guess my question is will tickets be sold only for the Wilco show?  If not, what is the pecking order to get into the Wilco show with only a day pass for example?

My understanding is that you buy a day pass and have access to all of the shows. It's a first come first served basis though. So if the venue Wilco is playing in, The Tennessee Theatre, fills up before you get there, you're SOL. I'm considering making the drive from Nashville for this. Just waiting to see what other dates drop.

According to this site last year's were between $47.50 and $59.50. I saw another link that said the 2015 day passes were $45. This isn't like buying a day pass to Lolla or ACL...

That seems worth it to see Wilco in a theater. Way cheaper than my Chicago Theatre tickets...

Does know the process for admitting various levels of tickets/badges for headline shows? Just wondering how likely it will be to see Wilco if you only have a GA ticket. I assume all other badge holders get in first?

That's a good question. I've got just a GA weekend pass but Wilco is my top priority. If I need to get something in addition to that to get a prime position for Wilco, I'd like to know about it.

The Premiere and VIP passes get you priority access to the venues. Otherwise you'll just need to get to the show early. I never had any trouble getting a spot for headliners at past Big Ears with a GA pass, but I haven't been since 2014.

Thank you for that info. I wonder if you can get a upgraded pass for just the Wilco show. I can't see paying double the festival admission price just to get priority access to the Wilco show. I'll check further on the website, but if anyone happens to know about the possibility of a VIP pass just for one show, I'd appreciate the info.

Big Ears posted set times today, with WILCO headlining the Tennessee Theater at 8:30 PM on Friday night + Glenn, Nels and Jeff performing in various configurations throughout the day on Saturday and Mikael and Glenn on Sunday. Should be a pretty cool weekend. Is anyone going?! Check it out: http://lineup.bigearsfestival.com/events/2017/03/24/

I'm going and am really excited about it! With all the hubbub about the Solid Sound lineup reveal today this kind of got lost in the shuffle, but I'm very much looking forward to this weekend. I was able to find a cheap place on Airbnb and can drive from Norfolk, Virginia, so I'm coming solo and hoping to meet up with new friends. I know nothing about what to expect other than general recommendations from friends, so I'd love to hear from any of you who are going.
