The other day, I heard maybe the worst song ever

Recommended Posts

And I am now obsessed with trying to find out what it was.

It was one of those that was so bad, it was like a train wreck. I could not turn it off because I just had to see how much worse it would get.

It was a sort of rootsy-grungy rock song. Playing was competent, production was competent, singing was competent, even if there was no real melody to speak of. And that is where the problem resides: the SONGWRITING. So, so awful.

Not just no melody, but the lyrics were so trite and yet self-important at the same time. It was obviously a protest song of some sort, but it really really had nothing new to say... just spewing cliches and jingoisms:
"The blood is red but the money is green...."
"We have to rise up..."

And then, they had the balls to steal a line from Wilco:
"I want a war on war..."

Anybody have any clue who this could be? I've done some preliminary searching, but all that I come up with is the Wilco song "War On War" (which I do like).

"What's Up?", 4 Non Blondes?

No. I know that song. This was worse. At least the 4NB song has a melody.

And, it was a male singer.

Nope. I found that too. Not nearly as bad as what I heard.
