dontknownuthin
Sharing one of my favorite Xmas songs for anyone who hasn't heard it - Leroy's take on Phil Ochs' "No Christmas in Kentucky". https://soundcloud.com/benscot/got-my-bells-christmas-in The track is from Santa is Real by the Kennett Brothers & Friends (and includes covers from Jay Bennett and John Stirratt) though I think Edward Burch compiled it. As far as I know my soundcloud is the only place this song exists on the internet though I don't remember where I found it to upload it. Would love to hear the whole album if anyone knows where to find it! Happy holidays!
Mr. Heartbreak
Wow! I'm a Phil Ochs obsessive, and didn't even know this cover existed. Thanks for the share.
I Might
Whatever happened to Leroy? Is he still involved with music is some capacity?
jff
Whatever happened to Leroy? Is he still involved with music is some capacity? I don't know how current this is, but his website says he's a private music instructor, and lists some live dates as recent as last month (I'm assuming November means last month and not November from a year or more ago.) http://www.leroybach.com/ I first saw him with Five Style. I think he was also in Wilco at the time, but that before I ever saw Wilco. Five Style were a terrific band. Leroy was the bassist. Between that group and WIlco, it really shows how versatile and talented he is.
jbray
Whatever happened to Leroy? Is he still involved with music is some capacity? He produced the last two Ryley Walker albums, Golden Sings that Have Been Sung and Deafman Glance. You can hear it too. An underrated contributor to the Wilco sound of that era. kidsmoke
Yes, Edward Burch compiled it. Looks like copies are hard to come by. I'm intrigued & will keep looking.
