  1. birthday hugs to J4. Here's to a year of health, happiness and flow.
  2. I'd be nothing without rabble to rouse. Thanks again all
  3. I dunno, something's shady about that.
  4. fuck. Considering you've announced yourself ignorant of election fraud as an issue, I'll take that for what it's worth.
  5. The election theft issue is the elephant in the room. I don't hear the Dems talking about it, though the shenanigans in FL 2000 and OH/NM/etc 2004 are thoroughly documented. They are poised to do it again on a larger scale. I hope Obama refuses to concede (if it comes to that) until every vote is accounted for. If you think there is no proof of this, you're not interested in it because it favors your team or you just don't give a damn. lots of good info out there. Try Greg Palast, RFK, etc. American Blackout Black Box Voting Free for All -- this one's a movie online that sc
  6. nuh uh. About the 5th hour into that movie I couldn't take it anymore. 100% Batshit crazy
  7. no kidding. Listening to the talking heads seems pointless and condescending after hearing it straight. "Here, let me tell you how to understand what you just heard."
  8. I understand all that. I have no answers. Fortunately no one called to put me on their ticket.
  9. Immigration is not an issue I care much about, living close to the Canadian border. (Except immigration to Canada, that interests me.) Most of the fighting about it seems racially motivated. Starting a war with Iran would be an unspeakable horror show. My understanding of the Iranian people is that they are a modern, well-educated, contemporary AND ancient culture saddled with an unfortunate and repressive theocracy. But we can't force American-style democracy down their throats. I think the male role in child bearing decision varies with the relationship. One night stand, not h
  10. I've been on the road to Maine! Currently in Freeport, tomorrow in Portland.
  11. Well congrats to you guys -- the very first I've ever known to have been the solo parent from day one. My experience has only shown me women who have done it on their own -- without financial, emotional or logistical support. The question of when life begins is one of the unanswerables everyone must come to terms with on their own. The decision must ultimately rest with the individual woman. One uterus, one vote.
  12. Hey Analogman. I'm gonna come to your house and show you how to make a god's eye. Go out and get some yarn and popsicles, I'll be there in 11 hours.
  13. hey sweetheart-mine! I'm in the hood! How about this. A couple agrees to engage in potentially baby-making activities. Baby making indeed takes place. She doesn't want it. He does. So, assuming she's extraordinarily altruistic and decides to carry it to term, go through labor, recovery, etc. she gives said baby to him, washes her hands of it. On top of it being a highly unlikely scenario, how likely is it that a dude will be willing to raise an infant entirely by himself? Hard for me to imagine a guy willing to make the sacrifices necessary to handle the 24/7 relentless parent
  14. I'm trying to imagine the briefing she'd get from Cheney on what the VP does. Wait. What? a merkin?
  15. The SC issue was definitely raised, but I forget if it was Biden or Bill. Here's what I know about her -- a hometown beauty queen, runner up for Miss Alaska (I don't know how Biden's gonna fare in the bathing suit competition, but I'm guessing he'll be able to hold his own otherwise), largely ceremonial mayor of a town of 9000, 2 year governor of a state with a population of less than 3/4 million. I like that she's been a anti-corruption reformer, but she's under investigation for improprieties around the firing of a trooper in a custody battle with her sister. She's also pro-life
  16. yep. Apparently McCain has only met Palin once. Huh?
  17. I was prepared to give her a shot, but SCJ, a creationist?
  18. It' been 40 years, I bet he's had time to catch up on his ass-gazing. It struck me as funny, and creepy, in its blatantness, with his wife and daughter sitting right behind him. Maybe he needs to find something to run on besides having suffered the consequences a combat soldier could reasonably expect to suffer in wartime.
  19. or maybe he's married, but not too married. I thought she looked a little creeped out when he went to hug her after her speech.
  20. Did anyone else notice that McCain spent most of the time Palin was speaking twirling his wedding ring and staring at her ass? Seriously.
  21. I'm concerned about b2's young cynicism too -- I'll admit to my fair share of cynicism, but that's a result of 40 years watching the progressive gains made with blood, sweat and tears being pissed away by policies tilted towards those who don't need the government's assistance but are the main beneficiaries. I absolutely agree that special interest money on both sides is a disgrace and skews the priorities of elected officials. As in "HEY! You guys are supposed to work for US!" But in the spirit of perfecting the union, there ARE important moments that present the opportunity to correct wh
