I had the very great pleasure of seeing Derek Trucks Bank, TP and the Heartbreakers and the Allman Bros last night. Six hours of outstanding music. TP and Greg both seemed to be bowled over by the audience love -- largest crowd ever at Saratoga, rocking from beginning to end (all six hours). One of the best concerts I've ever seen. I wish a certain someone had been there.

actually, funny you should say that. One very windy June I was selling at a street festival in Troy, and a big gust of wind picked up my whole table and dumped hundreds of handmade glass beads into the street. Everyone on the street scrambled to pick them all up, which was great -- I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I probably did both. Only one broke.

Has it been magnificent here or what? It's occurred to me several times in the last few days that there is no nicer place on earth than right here. In part because we have plenty o' water, and no hurricanes, tornados, mudslides, tsunamis, cyclones, typhoons, long beastly summers, earthquakes or sinkholes worth mentioning. Uh, I should probably keep that to myself, huh?

Im a vet too. I'd venture a guess that oh, say half of the people over 30 here have been divorced. That's what the stats say anyway. Kids are very resilient -- the very best thing you can do is insist on as amiable a relationship with her mom as you can manage right now (and it will get easier). Your daughter will need you to patient and attentive -- once she knows neither of you is disappearing she'll feel more secure.
