Find a new Jerome for Morris Day. Oh. Wait. Jerome is still with Morris Day. -
Agreed. And this kind of post is probably going to get misconstrued by a newcomer who is unfamiliar with the way things work around here: That might be OK among the regulars, but I wouldn't be too surprised if this poor guy never came back after such a response.

In a way, yeah ... but A Series of Sneaks is one of my favorite albums of all time. My personal ranking of their output: 1. A Series of Sneaks 2. Girls Can Tell 3. Soft Effects EP 4. Love Ways EP 5. Telephono 6. Kill the Moonlight 7. Gimme Fiction

I hope he wins. I'm no fan, but it sure sounds like his contract expected him to get into exactly those kinds of situations ... so, screw CBS.

In my opinion, they've been on a bit of a losing streak lately. Kill The Moonlight and Gimme Fiction, while still very good, are my two least favorite albums of theirs. I'm hoping this new one will right the ship. And yes, I realize I'm probably in the minority in my opinion of those two albums.

...assuming there will even be any future generations.

...but I'm still hoping they change their mind on that title.

Have I mentioned lately how much I loathe Jeff Lynne's production style?

I saw Kruk tonight for the first time in a while. Do you think they'll have to cut him out of that NutriSystem ad now? Damn.

Which proves my point. If they'd been invisible, they never would have made it onto the chart at all.
-
People did, you know. Not that many, but it's not like VU were completely invisible in the '60s.

Why MP3? I might be interested in participating in some kind of trading vine for such a collection, but only if it was from lossless sources.

Literature and movies: Russia and survival themes

Perhaps this is set too far in the past, but Dr. Zhivago is a classic (I'm referring specifically to the film, but I suppose that goes for the book too). It's a bit of a soap opera, but its backdrop is the revolution, and it's very interesting in that respect. Music: To my mind, Russians have basically perfected choral music. Much of my favorite stuff is written for male choruses, but a lot of standard SATB arrangements are mind-blowing as well. In particular, composers like Sergei Rachmaninoff, Georgy Sviridov, and Alexander Gretchaninov wrote some gorgeous stuff. There's a bit from Rachman -
There is as about as close to a scientific consensus on global warming as there can possibly be. But there are those with a political agenda (read: Big Business and the politicians who do their bidding) who go to great lengths to muddy the waters by pretending that there is a sizable minority of "respected" scientists who disagree. There is not. That is a deliberate lie forwarded and perpetuated by those interests.

You realize that there's not really a difference between those, right?

I am quite excited about these Bulls, but I still don't think they've quite got what it takes to get past the Pistons. That said, I'm holding out some hope that the Bulls could surprise me. Pistons in seven, in what will turn out to be the best series of the playoffs.

Difference of opinion ... I was pretty pleased that it didn't turn up on SBS. That said, if it had, I probably never would have questioned its presence ... but because it didn't, I just don't see where it would have fit in. Funny how that works.
