  1. Not sure where I'd rank it among his others, but all that really matters is that to me, it's a great listen.
  2. My choice would be Tweezer Reprise because it rocks and it would just be like saying "we're back!"
  3. I am not sure if this was their intent, but I love the idea that they played a song that fits right into the absurd humor of the show instead of trying to choose a song to market themselves.
  4. I used to travel all over the southeast to see them from about 93 to 98 and then marriage, kids, life, etc... and I fell out of the loop and saw them once since 1998. Because I was out of the loop, I actually didn't know about the pre-sale and didn't find out about the on-sale until the Thursday before when I spoke to a friend (about something unrelated) that I use to travel to shows with. I told him I would try for the Saturday show and he said why don't you try for all 3 nights. I gave it a shot and TM showed my wait time at about 3 minutes at first and then after about 90 seconds it
  5. They should try to do another show in DC... that really stinks for those people that got screwed. With all that being said... the Charlotte show was amazing. God, what a great band... Would love to figure out a way to see them again on this tour because the In Rainbows songs really thrive in a live setting.
  6. Considering that the former Chief of Staff for the Vice-President of the United States, Scooter Libby, and guys as wealthy and well-connected as Jeff Skilling and Ken Lay weren't able to avoid conviction based on federal felony charges, I'd say the odds are against him.
  7. I'm not surprised when you consider how many pet owners there are in this country. The vast majority have a deep emotional attachment to their dogs because dogs typically provide an unyielding loyalty and a perceived unconditional love for their owners. My guess is that a significant percentage of Americans that watch the NFL often do so with their dog at their feet or lying next to them on the couch. The idea of hurting an animal similar to the one that gives so many people joy and sitting right next to you is disturbing and repulsive. The only thing more disturbing is someone hurting
  8. Just as I am reading this thread with the Yankees-Giants game in the background, on comes the VW commercial with SBS. I think somebody is watching me.
  9. As others have noted the sound was fantastic... volume, mix and clarity. Jeff asked how everything sounded at one point and said it sounded real good on stage and then added "We're quite pleased" After the last Charlotte show had the incident of some knucklehead yelling for "She's a Jar" during the last verse of mountain bed prompting a Tweedy tirade, I was quite happy that 1) Wilco came back to Charlotte, 2) the show was a sell-out and 3) the crowd was very good, at least in Orchestra Left (no dicks, quiet at the appropriate times, good banter at the right times and great responses to al
  10. Excellent show in Charlotte tonight. I took my wife to see Wilco for the first time. She likes YHF and Summerteeth quite a bit, but she is not so fond of Ghost (she hate Spiders!). She really enjoyed the show and said it was well worth the $70 we dropped on a sitter to watch the kids. She made particular note of Glenn

I've got tix for Sat and Sunday. As many conflicts as there are, I'm not too depressed about it because part of the fun of going to the festival is not only seeing bands that you know, but experiencing performances that you wouldn't otherwise pay to see by themselves. Any bands that I really care about, I will make the effort to see in a venue other than a festival.

    Bonnaroo

There's usually 30 to 45 minutes between acts on the same stage so they wouldn't be playing on the same stage.
  13. Jackelope Jack's http://www.jackalopejacks.com/ is a good pre-show place to grab a bite (meatloaf is great) and a drink. Casual atmosphere and good wait staff, usually. Also, the Philosopher's Stone (Thai Chicken Stir Fry is good) http://www.philosophersstonetavern.com/menu.htm is similar and less than a block down the street from Jack's. My wife and I and about 10 others will be at one of these two places before the show. They are both about 3 miles from Ovens. Directions to Ovens from Jacks (Ovens would be on your right): http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.ad...ty%20Governm
  14. All great suggestions, add... -sunglasses -pair of sandals (wear something with more ankle support... switch to sandals and back as needed) -extra pair of socks/extra t-shirt (especially if rain is in the forecast) -roll of toilet paper (in case they run out) -hand sanitizer -saline if you wear contacts/eye drops (very dusty) -something for upset stomachs -if you don't have one, try to pick up a crazy creek chair or similar (you can find them cheaper, but here's a link: http://www.crazycreek.com/interior.cfm?pag...ail&item=1) Sounds like overkill but all this stuff can fit in a pretty
  15. I saw them (with the National) in Asheville last week. Absolutely fantastic show! At first I thought the invitation to come down front would have to be cleared by the venue because in Asheville, the ushers pretty much seemed to just let people do it, but it sounds like some places haven't been so open to the concept.
  16. I'm jealous... another great lineup this year. I will be at my 5 year old daughter's dance recital, otherwise I would be there. Everybody enjoy it! Take some time to see some smaller acts in the tents if the crowds start to get to you. It's a good way to chill out.
  17. I don't recall the crowd being that rude other than the one guy yelling out "She's a Jar" during "Mountain Bed" and then Jeff taking the guy to task right after "Mountain Bed" and then apologizing/ranting about it during the encore. I seem to remember that after his talk during the encore, he said something to the effect of "don't worry, we'll come back to Charlotte" in response to another fan. He also mentioned he liked the jukebox style lights of the auditorium.

There's no orchestra pit at Ovens. If you go to the link below, you will see a link to a "Virtual Tour" of Ovens... really it's just a 360 degree view, but it gives you a good sense of the auditorium and you will see the lights on the walls and ceiling arches that Jeff referred to last time they played Ovens as a light show for the band. The images were taken from ORCHC, Row G: http://ovensauditorium.com/default.asp?mai...motersguide.asp
  19. I was able to get 2 in ORCHCL, Row F. If you go by the 10% figure that is mentioned on Wilcoworld, then there were less than 250 tickets for sale (since Ovens capacity is 2460). You have to figure that most people grabbed 2 or more tickets so you are probably only talking about 100 people or so who were able to order tickets.
  20. I did a hotel package last year (Executive Inn). Some thoughts... 1. Worth it to me to get a decent half-night's sleep (I'm 38 so it might not be worth it to those younger than me that can recover more easily) 2. The hotel was pretty dumpy 3. no shuttle (I think last year, they only offered shuttles for the VIP upgrades) 4. Drove into Bonaroo Thursday night and they weren't really sure where we should park because we were day-parkers (we just found a spot) 5. Getting in and out of the lot was pretty easy... longest wait was Friday going back in because that's when most started to show
