  1. Do we think Andy Shauf is going to have a new album already??? Please tell me you've heard rumours! No rumours. Just speculation. He has a home recording space set up. So, I figure that he would've been working on new material since he was unable to tour.
  2. What new albums are you looking forward to in 2021? Confirmed, anticipated, wishful thinking, etc. I'm personally looking forward to, hoping for or anticipating new albums from: Grandaddy Jason Lytle Kiwi Jr. Teenage Fanclub Superchunk Archers of Loaf Sloan Yo La Tengo Dinosaur Jr. Lou Barlow Sebadoh Arab Strap Mogwai Guided By Voices (how many in 2021?) Notwist Sleaford Mods British Sea Power Parquet Courts Spoon Mike Krol The War on Drugs Stephen Malkmus Spiral Stairs Thee Oh Sees Courtney Barnett Andy Shauf Constantines New Pornographers Supergrass or Gaz Coombes Mudhoney Wilco Jeff Tweedy and will 2021 the year that the Wrens finally release a new album?
  3. The albums that I enjoyed at some point during 2020 are: Coriky Coriky ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead X: The Godless Void and Other Stories Andy Shauf Neon Skyline Bob Mould Blue Hearts Bill Callahan Gold Record Say Hi Diamonds and Donuts Flat Worms Antarctica Hamilton Leithauser The Loves of Your Life Protomartyr Ultimate Success Today Built to Spill Built to Spill Plays the Songs of Daniel Johnston Guided By Voices Surrender Your Poppy Field and Mirrored Aztec and Styles We Paid For Doves The Universal Want Daniel Romano's Outfit How Ill Thy World is Ordered Idles Ultra Mono Metz Atlas Vending Kevin Morby Sundowner Jeff Tweedy Love Is The King The Mountain Goats Getting Into Knives BOAT Tread Lightly Damien Jurado What's New, Tomboy? Wolf Parade Thin Mind Stephen Malkmus Traditional Techniques Waxahatchee Saint Cloud Joel Plaskett 44
  4. Salad Boys Parquet Courts Mike Krol Flat Worms Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever
  5. No dirt. Just wishful thinking. A Hamilton Leithauser record and/or some more solo releases from other members would suffice. 2.5
  6. Most anticipated albums of 2020 (lots of wishful thinking) Holy Fuck (Jan 17) ...And You Will Know us by the Trail of Dead (Jan 17) Andy Shauf (Jan 24) Wolf Parade (Jan 24) Say Hi (Feb 7) British Sea Power Teenage Fanclub (they're currently in the studio) Dinosaur Jr. (currently working on new album) Constantines??? The Wrens (is this the year they release the new record?) Grandaddy Joel Plaskett Superchunk??? Yo La Tengo (read somewhere they've been recording at the Loft) Pavement??? Supergrass??? Doves??? Hayden??? War on Drugs??? Walkmen??? Parquet Courts??? Guided By Voices (there is a new album on the horizon. The question at this point is how many more will there be?)
  7. Same except just over the state line in Vermont. And I'm doing the same this year. I'm staying at the Ladd Brook. It's not the best but the price is reasonable compared to others in the area. I booked through booking.com I'm staying at the Ladd Brook. It's not the best but the price is reasonable compared to others in the area. I booked through booking.com The Villager Motel appears to be similar. It's just north of Williamstown too...but on the Mass side of the state line.
  8. Good luck...worst part about Solid Sound is the cost of accommodations in the area during the festival (if you can find a room). It's ridiculous how much the flea bag motels charge per night. Especially for a Canadian at a time when the dollar is so weak vs the US dollar. I guess camping is a good option if you want to save money and don't mind not having a shower for a few days. Having said that, the actual festival is fantastic.
  9. And there's the Minus 5 "Down with Wilco" album released in 2003 which was basically a collaboration between McCaughey and Wilco with contributions from Peter Buck and Ken Stringfellow (of the Posies), and others.
  10. Here are some of my early predictions: Rolling Blackouts C.F., Unknown Mortal Orchestra, J. Mascis or Dinosaur Jr. or Sebadoh, Sleater-Kinney, Courtney Barnett, the Breeders, Ohmme, The Sea and Cake, The Essex Green, Snail Mail. And I predict we'll see some returning acts from past lineups such as Yo La Tengo, Mac Demarco, Parquet Courts and Low. My dream (and kind of realistic lineup) would be Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks The Breeders Dinosaur Jr. Yo La Tengo Sleater-Kinney Courtney Barnett Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billie Bob Mould Deerhunter Rolling Blackouts C.F. The Men Kikagaku Moyo
  11. It's all cyclical. You just gotta look a little harder for the good rock music nowadays. It's still out there. Speaking of music festivals, Merge 30 down in North Carolina at the end of July should be stacked with lots of great rock bands. I went to Merge 25 and it was absolutely awesome! Such a great great lineup and an even better vibe (much like past Solid Sound festivals)
  12. ROCK being the operative word. I know I'm getting old, but I still like a lot of newer and younger bands. They're just not playing at Coachella...and hopefully some of them are playing at Solid Sound
  13. I'm just hoping it's the opposite of the Coachella lineup
  14. how did you get your hands on this album?
  15. I'm always jealous of people who live in Chicago, NYC, LA, Seattle and Toronto because every band that tours around North America always plays in these cities. Anyway, slim pickings for me this year. Is it because Ottawa is not really that good for shows anymore or is it because I am getting older and I'm a bit out of the loop and don't go to as many shows? A little of both I suppose. Also, big summer festivals have kind of ruined ruined it. I can tell you right now, if Stephen Malkmus, Parquet Courts, Thee Oh Sees, GBV, J Mascis, Yo La Tengo, the Breeders and a few other bands that toured this year ever came to Ottawa, I would go. But I regress, here's is my very short list Jeff Tweedy solo and Algonquin Theatre in Ottawa Sloan at Empty Bottle in Chicago
