  8. Do we think Andy Shauf is going to have a new album already??? Please tell me you've heard rumours! No rumours. Just speculation. He has a home recording space set up. So, I figure that he would've been working on new material since he was unable to tour.

  14. Same except just over the state line in Vermont. And I'm doing the same this year. I'm staying at the Ladd Brook. It's not the best but the price is reasonable compared to others in the area. I booked through booking.com I'm staying at the Ladd Brook. It's not the best but the price is reasonable compared to others in the area. I booked through booking.com The Villager Motel appears to be similar. It's just north of Williamstown too...but on the Mass side of the state line.
  15. Good luck...worst part about Solid Sound is the cost of accommodations in the area during the festival (if you can find a room). It's ridiculous how much the flea bag motels charge per night. Especially for a Canadian at a time when the dollar is so weak vs the US dollar. I guess camping is a good option if you want to save money and don't mind not having a shower for a few days. Having said that, the actual festival is fantastic.
  16. And there's the Minus 5 "Down with Wilco" album released in 2003 which was basically a collaboration between McCaughey and Wilco with contributions from Peter Buck and Ken Stringfellow (of the Posies), and others.
  17. Here are some of my early predictions: Rolling Blackouts C.F., Unknown Mortal Orchestra, J. Mascis or Dinosaur Jr. or Sebadoh, Sleater-Kinney, Courtney Barnett, the Breeders, Ohmme, The Sea and Cake, The Essex Green, Snail Mail. And I predict we'll see some returning acts from past lineups such as Yo La Tengo, Mac Demarco, Parquet Courts and Low. My dream (and kind of realistic lineup) would be Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks The Breeders Dinosaur Jr. Yo La Tengo Sleater-Kinney Courtney Barnett Will Oldham/Bonnie Prince Billie Bob Mould Deerhunter Rolling Blackouts C.F. The Men Kikagaku Moy
  18. It's all cyclical. You just gotta look a little harder for the good rock music nowadays. It's still out there. Speaking of music festivals, Merge 30 down in North Carolina at the end of July should be stacked with lots of great rock bands. I went to Merge 25 and it was absolutely awesome! Such a great great lineup and an even better vibe (much like past Solid Sound festivals)
  19. ROCK being the operative word. I know I'm getting old, but I still like a lot of newer and younger bands. They're just not playing at Coachella...and hopefully some of them are playing at Solid Sound
  20. I'm just hoping it's the opposite of the Coachella lineup
  21. how did you get your hands on this album?
  22. I'm always jealous of people who live in Chicago, NYC, LA, Seattle and Toronto because every band that tours around North America always plays in these cities. Anyway, slim pickings for me this year. Is it because Ottawa is not really that good for shows anymore or is it because I am getting older and I'm a bit out of the loop and don't go to as many shows? A little of both I suppose. Also, big summer festivals have kind of ruined ruined it. I can tell you right now, if Stephen Malkmus, Parquet Courts, Thee Oh Sees, GBV, J Mascis, Yo La Tengo, the Breeders and a few other bands that toured t
  23. Makes sense. Vish writes for Exclaim! and KK is his podcast. KK has it's own website (for those who don't wanna go through ITunes) http://vishkhanna.com/kreative-kontrol/
  24. Every month, Canadian music publication Exclaim! does a questionnaire with a musician. This month it's with Jeff Tweedy and they've added some bonus/follow up questions to the usual questions (they're the same questions every month). Check it out here: https://exclaim.ca/music/article/jeff_tweedy-the_exclaim_questionnaire
