Speaking of death, what's with the toy-gun-in-mouth shot? High comedy, or a cry for help? Or both?

A sampling from youtube (great scratchy 45), (dig those braces), (girly-girl charm), here (scary. someone feed those guys), (I would hang with these gals), , here (braces, gum and everything), here (directed by Paul Westerberg), (sound's a bit off - points off for Idol reference), (3 guys who will NEVER get laid). Speaking of getting . OK, there's another two hours of my life gone by.

Real good feature on TLTC here. Check 'em/her out live, there's a whole other dimension to the songs as Megan attacks the lap steel (drew blood at SXSW this year). She's also very engaging, and she likes my dancing . Plus she puts her dog in publicity photos. Surf Nebraska! Arctic ice cap melting 30 years ahead of forecast By Deborah Zabarenko, Environment Correspondent WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Arctic ice cap is melting much faster than expected and is now about 30 years ahead of predictions made by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a U.S. ice expert said on Tuesday. This means the ocean at the top of the world could be free or nearly free of summer ice by 2020, three decades sooner than the global panel's gloomiest forecast of 2050. No ice on the Arctic Ocean during summer would be a major spur to global warming, said Ted

Tonight: KOL on Leno, Jet on Carson Daly. That's about right. (Anyone seen Wolfmother lurking around NBC studios?)

Yeah, but Cheney's like Iraq, this guy's like Afghanistan.

My brother writes the backpage headlines for the Philly Daily News (tabloid). Some of his best: Spit hits the fan (Barkley spits on little girl) Beaut, Montana (Joe leads niners over birds) Stinko de Flyo (Flyers eliminated from playoffs on May 5) We were Piston (Larry Brown leaves sixers for Detroit, bold type actually in yellow ink.)

Well, not really: Bush official linked to call-girl probe By ANNE GEARAN, AP Diplomatic Writer WASHINGTON - Randall Tobias, head of the Bush administration's foreign aid programs, abruptly resigned Friday after his name surfaced in an investigation into a high-priced call-girl ring, said two people in a position to know the circumstances of his departure. It was Tobias' own decision to resign, according to one of the people, who said the issue came up only in the past day or so. The people spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the investigation is still unde

It's like the old movie axiom: People will like a character, no matter what he does, as long as he's good at his job.

Probably available online. I came close to quitting the biz in '03 over the media's sorry performance. No one wanted to wind up on the "wrong" side of the story, so they gave the president free reign. Even if they didn't agree with the policy, they bet on the administration's competence to successfully prosecute the war. They bet wrong.

`Monster Mash' singer Pickett dies at 69 NEW YORK - He does the "Monster Mash" no more. Bobby "Boris" Pickett, whose dead-on Boris Karloff impression propelled the Halloween anthem to the top of the charts in 1962, making him one of pop music's most enduring one-hit wonders, has died of leukemia. He was 69. Pickett, dubbed "The Guy Lombardo of Halloween," died Wednesday night at the West Los Angeles Veterans Hospital, said his longtime manager, Stuart Hersh. His daughter, Nancy, and his sister, Lynda, were at Pickett's bedside. "Monster Mash" hit the Billboard chart three times: when i

Petra almost makes Journey listenable. Now hear what she can do with a good song.

Anyone hear anything remotely interesting in this song, lyrically or musically? I'm all for people putting out what they want to put out, God bless 'em, good for Paul. But is there any compelling reason to listen to this song twice?

Jeff Tweedy is on ABC Radio 774 on the AM dial now
tugmoose replied to asleepykisser's topic in Just A Fan
When I was a wee lad, I'd fall asleep to the sounds of 77 WABC on my older brother's radio. So I still have a soft spot for stuff like this, this, this, this, and of course this. -
Video brings to mind the movie Slacker, where the TV guy plays a tape of a guy about to take out the thesis committee. I do recall college was when I first became aware of the class distinction between the middle and upper class - they not only had cars, they had really nice cars.

Considering the source, I believe Kurt's smiling somewhere. So it goes.

If you win, it means you get billions and billions in federal money for projects that have little or nothing to do with the 2-week games.

No, we should offer a choice of various national services. In previous drafts, if you were a C.O., you could work in a VA hospital instead.
-
Yeah, I know a lot of draftees don't make highly effective, motivated soldiers. But I think the biggest effect of a draft is that it gives people incentive to join up before they're drafted. Make it a part of a national service program where everybody has to do something. If we are to take the President's word, we're gonna need a hell of a lot more troops in the "long struggle" ahead, unless we keep asking more and more of the current troops. Besides pulling out, any better ideas out there?
