  1. just curious, but would you really consider Fables of the Reconstruction a great album, as a whole?
  2. Wilco: Being There Summerteeth Yankee Hotel Foxtrot A Ghost Is Born Sky Blue Sky top that!
  3. don't you get the feeling though that Jeff just really couldn't be bothered about how they perform for late night talk shows? I think he's probably more concerned playing to a roomful of folks than a tv appearance. just a thought...
  4. I've been busy lawyering. What's the petition count up to?
  5. what kind of baffled me was watching and thinking "ok, so this is the place they recorded these tunes, and this is how they played these tunes, how come the disc does such a poor job (at times, not all around) at putting these songs across?" that's not to say I don't love the new album--it's been on constant rotation, but so many of the instruments (especially Glenn's contributions, which just jump out at you on the dvd versions) don't seem as clear and pronounced on the studio/album version. I'm looking forward to the audio of this dvd showing up on the torrents soon... after listenin
  6. shouldn't all the fans who don't want wilco to have more fans, especially in reaction to this new album, be delighted with a sub-par Letterman performance?
  7. Historically bands are extremely prone to rearranging staff composition based on internet petitions. I say go for it.
  8. I think this was a bold move for the band, frankly. It says to me, without in any way denigrating or dismissing the efforts that production, instrumental improvisation and texturized imagination produced on yankee hotel foxtrot or a ghost is born: "here is how these songs looked and sounded as they were being recorded, with minimum overdubs, as a collective entity [we can (still) do it that way too, and well]"
  9. I had the same thought when he suddenly appeared on camera and words started coming out of his mouth
  10. I am laughing at myself now as I divulge that I have no idea what I just paid for it at F.Y.E. in a mall (closest thing to my work). I was just so freakin' excited that they had the dvd version after reading earlier here that F.Y.E. wasn't carry same. I want to say it was $21.99?
  11. my avatar wanted to help blow out the candles, but I told it absolutely not.
  12. possible that they'd pick "hate it here" and have paul and the horns throw in some backup
  13. just because the guy supported apartheid and segregation? tough crowd...
  14. I thought when Tony fell to the floor in this scene he WAS happy--giddy actually. Am I misremembering?
  15. the way I hoped I would listen to and review music as a music critic (back when I was young and actually thought that might be an available and lucrative career for me ), was to ask myself: "even if this genre, band, artist is not my cup of tea, can I suspend favoritism in order to ask whether I get what this band/artist was trying to accomplish, and did they (i) accomplish it, (ii) just dial it in, or (iii) flat never had a chance to begin with?" or something like that.
  16. when I was little my dad had all the original Eagles albums (up to and including Hotel California). There are some great tracks in there. It's all the crap that's happened since then that makes it hard for me to include them on any favorites list... I think Don Henley's "all she wants to do is dance" summarizes my point best.
  17. Very much a "heat is on" album. (You know, solo eagletts)
  18. If I am in fact Mr. Lawyerson McTexas (here's hoping no one in my family ever visits this site, I would never shake that one), I think you've earned the right through blood, sweat and clever sarcasm.
  19. I'm open to negative SBS criticism, but what a twat. That was painful to read.
