I mean, what qualifications (other than megalomania and a talent for attracting admirers) does Oprah have to be president?

I think the jury is out on the cancer thing So should we not discuss the merits of anyone on television, since we could just change the channel? Would that apply to music as well--why bother criticizing an album, artist or performance, since one could simply choose to listen or not?

I think her show has probably helped some people, but come on, this is an individual who created a magazine that features her, and her only, on the cover every freaking month. She'd need a camera crew to give a dollar to a homeless person at a street corner...

I think what we should ALL be asking ourselves when pondering these serious issues is: "what would Orpah do?" Isn't that really what matters most?

Last week the wife and I watched this rockstar supernova deal with Tommy Lee, Gilby What'sHisFace (I just visited the website, and I shit you not it says "Three rock legends have joined forces to become Supernova" Legends?) and Jason Newsted, where a group of "rockers" audition each week to be the band's lead singer, with the attendant reality show eliminations etc. etc. (same thing as that INXS show last year basically). true. maybe my problem is one of verbage, with the "statutory rape" concept--that it shares the word "rape." When I think of the term rape, I think violence and lack of consent. Of course the legal argument is that a minor is incapable of consent, which is a fair point. I guess I just think there should be a distinction between forced sex acts and consensual--albeit emotionally harmful, etc--sex.
