  1. As one of "those people" who does wait in line for hours (mainly because of the place I get, but also because it's fun), I can tell you it is annoying to have someone who basically shows up at the last minute (as you did) to get in front of me because he/she perceives that there is space there, and therefore have the right to fill it. I think most people who wait in line to assure a good place feel the same way.

I am also borderline claustrophobic and having people too close is a problem for me. Not enough of one to prevent me from dealing with GA, but enough of one to try to reserve some breathing room.

  2. I saw the trailer a few weeks ago and was largely unimpressed. I think we will not see this one in the theatre anyway.

In other cinema news, Jake saw The Great Escape with my mother on PBS a couple of weeks ago. He loved it and asked her all kinds of questions about WWII -- really good ones (she reported to me later). That's what good movies will do.

  3. So you can relate to gutting that bitch and stuffing her ass in the trunk of your Nova? C'mon, man. You're way off base here.

That's uncalled for, in my opinion. Also, most of the rest of the songs on the record support his point.

  4. Why does he keep his black friends in piles? Are they neat piles, or more like pickup sticks? Are the piles better tended to than his heaps of Mexican landscapers?

And nothing personal, but I wouldn't let any of you use my bathroom.

    That sounds pretty personal.

Maybe he keeps them in piles are so they can be spindled more easily.

  5. I don't understand why that is hilarious.

Considering that most people that are in the market for such a vehicle (ultra luxury sporty cars, as classified by Automotive News) aren't that concerned about payment plans. Don't get me wrong; I can buy stuff outright and choose no interest when I can to make my money work for me, but I am not sure that the $$ that they make on not paying the interest is enough to make someone say, "gee, I'll buy this instead of a Ferrari". Financing like this is designed to get conquest purchasers. This type of vehicle is an emotional purchase, not a practical one.

  6. This is hilarious

‘Tis the season to buy a Murciélago with zero-percent financing. Lamborghini of America introduced a new Lamborghini Retail Finance Plan that allows customers to buy a Lamborghini Murciélago LP640-4 with zero percent financing for 60 months.

With the new financing deal, Lamborghini hopes to allow more automotive enthusiasts to get behind the wheel of one of the rarest and fastest cars on the plant. Purchasing a car that has a base price of over $350,000 normally requires some serious wealth – now, all it requires is a solid credit score (although we’d still recommend a serious amount of wealth behind your name).

Through the Lamborghini Retail Financing Plan, Lamborghini customers with a credit score over 700 can finance their LP640-4 purchase for 12 years at 5.9% APR with 10 percent down. To give you an idea of how astronomical the payments are on a bare bones Murciélago LP640-4 with a pricetag of $354,000, this roughly equates to $35,000 down with payments of $3096 per month for 12 years. After 12 years, interest payments alone amounts to an astounding $126,824.

For those with a more significant income and a credit score of over 740, Lamborghini is also offering zero percent financing for 60 months with a larger down payment. Assuming a 25-percent down payment ($87,500) a monthly payment through this financing plan would be approximately $4400 a month for 5 years. Once again, this assumes you’re picking up an LP640-4 with no options -- ordering a car to your tastes can push that price point over the $450,000 mark.

The new Lamborghini Retail Financing Plan is offered at select Lamborghini dealerships across the country and is available on all 2009 and 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago models.

  7. Annoyingly pretentious?

Kind of like frat boys saying 'bloody'?

I believe both arsed and bloody are kind of low class in the UK. And I for one LOVE seeing the queen's English here on the Internets. I can almost hear the accents when I read the words :wub

  8. Parents can decide for themselves if its a film they want junior to see. But accept it and his vision for what it is, and stop expecting "kids" films to be all singalongs and princesses. And hell, when you actually look at them, Disney films have more sexual innuendo than you can shake a stick at. And its not exactly hidden either.

    This.

And Bambi is not a children's movie.

  9. I know for a fact Tweedy does not give a shit about still photography at his gigs...

Other wise his is being a bit hypocritical. He took my favorite Wilco fan shot with Clay B's camera in Wichita almost three years to the date of this Memphis gig. :dancing

Funny i don't see a lot of PDA's being held up at this gig in this picture. Times have changed with the price drop of this technology in three years. Today the same picture would be polluted with hands in the air with PDA's attached. :dontgetit

I see my sweater in this picture!

man, that broad in the front on the left is hot.

    You have no idea.

  10. Blackhawks win!

Anyone who witnessed the first 12 minutes of the Blackhawks' game against the Calgary Flames on Monday night would find it hard to believe the night ended with the Hawks mobbing each other on the ice after tying the biggest comeback in NHL history.

After spotting the Calgary Flames a five-goal lead in the first 11:43, the Hawks roared back with six consecutive goals -- three in the second period -- and went on to an amazing 6-5 overtime victory at the United Center.

Brent Seabrook scored the winner 26 seconds into OT. Patrick Kane had a goal and two assists to lead the rally, and Patrick Sharp, John Madden, Dustin Byfuglien and Dave Bolland also scored. Brian Campbell and Andrew Ladd added two assists as 10 Hawks landed on the scoresheet.

"You can't do that every night," Kane said. "At the same time, what a fun game to be a part of. It was awesome. From the second period on, we just controlled the whole play."

In their first meeting since the Hawks eliminated the Flames in six games in last season's Western Conference quarterfinals, Calgary hit the Hawks with an early goal barrage that sent starting goaltender Cristobal Huet to the bench after yielding three scores on five shots.

It got so bad early, fans were mock-cheering every easy save made by Antti Niemi, who replaced Huet.

It got so good at the end, the fans were chanting for the Hawks after the victory that improved their record to 3-1-1.

Calgary's first-period goals came in a span of 5:29. Dustin Boyd, Eric Nystrom and Jarome Iginla ended Huet's night with goals within 53 seconds of each other, and Rene Bourque and Olli Jokinen padded the lead.

Madden scored his first goal in a Hawks uniform with 2:19 remaining in the first when he tucked a shot past Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff to cut the deficit to 5-1.

"We had lots of time to come back there," said Seabrook, his face covered in shaving cream courtesy of injured teammate Adam Burish adding to the celebration in the dressing room. "Madden's goal at the end of the first sort of gave us a little bit of hope and excitement to get back and get some more."

Kane made it 5-2 early in the second when he blistered a wrist shot over Kiprusoff's right shoulder from the top of the circles. Later in the period, Kane set up Byfuglien off a two-on-one, and Byfuglien sent it through Kiprusoff's legs.

Bolland tapped in a rebound of his own shot to make it 5-4 just 41 seconds later.

The comeback was complete when Sharp's team-leading fourth goal of the season evened the score 5-5 at 4:32 of the third. The veteran winger redirected a shot by Duncan Keith, and the United Center crowd was roaring.

"Pretty amazing game," Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "From the worst to as good as you can get. It was a dramatic turn."

DirectTV and VS. better get their shit together :realmad

  11. I have found that when I use my camera at shows I end up missing something either visually or music-wise that I would have been able to experience if I hadn't been taking pics. Worse, my pics generally turn out poorly. It's likely a combination of my meh camera and my meh skills. Therefore, I no longer waste my effort. Also, I have seen that most casual photographers do not take good quality pics, nor do they have good angles or capture "interesting" moments very well -- so I rarely even look at links posted here as it isn't worth my time. The band's web site however, is a great source of great pictures, so if I need a fix it is where I go. I'd rather have one great Charles Harris shot than a hundred of most amateur's shots.

Now, If the band were to commit to having at least one professional photographer at every show and post the best ones, then they could ban photography without taking away anything. I doubt that will happen though. Possibly vetting a few local photographers (someone like Morgan comes to mind locally, though she is in NZ right now, or CreativeType in OK) and giving them access to take pictures that would be posted might work. This is a lot of effort, but could remove the most of problem at the source.

  12. Certainly there is a certain amount of patient self-selection as a factor. But it really surprised me that in one location, all else equal, kids were 4x as likely to have had their tonsils out than those that lived mere miles away. It does seem like making money as a driver for patient care is the dirty little secret that no one wants to talk about. I am not just talking about physicians of course.

I was also surprised to hear that more does not necessarily = better. I think that the concept of "more = better" for anything really is so ingrained into the American DNA that hearing that it isn't in this case is probably rather shocking to most. I also think that there is an inherent, blind trust that doctors always know what to do -- and that we need to do it no matter what since the doctor says so.
