  1. You're reading way too much into his reaction.

If anything, we should be lamenting the childish, unpresidential manner of Barack standing up there and admonishing a separate branch of government to serve his political whims.

Since when is 100 years of case law "political whims"? And why is speaking his mind unpresidential?

  2. Marino did not get a ring.

I was clearly in the bar at the time of their SB "victory" :P They were IN one though, correct?

And BB, I don't think you should either. I am talking about all the many times that Montana played clutch when it didn't matter, as well as when it did.

  3. I think Joe Montana was the best at the position during his and Marino's era. Marino only won one SB -- and Montana kept the 49ers on top for so long. He regularly killed the Bears so trust me I know from whence I speak.

  4. So she got a hip replacement, knowing she was ill but certainly not knowing her outcome. Unless the government did this without her consent, or knew the exact date that she would die, I fail to see why this reflects poorly on the government.

This is like the anti-"death squad". We will give you health care services no matter your condition!

  5. Sure corporations are going to attract more customers and make more money by poisoning the environment, killing, maiming or poisoning their customers by creating unsafe products and by selling diseased infested foods.

Is that really your point? :ermm

You really don't have to go all that far back in history to find a story that resulted in numerous changes for the good for workers (and people) everywhere -- but you can bet that corporations would not have made them on their own, even after such a horrific event. While we surely won't see the return of working conditions like this, what legislator is going to go against special interests that can more easily help to see him ushered from office?

  6. Isn't this really a joke? It sounds so fun! Two questions just come to my mind:

    1. Panther, how did you come up with the idea in the first place?

    2. Without a vinyl copy here... Any way of speeding up the sound on a CD player?

Panther is older than 20. This was quite common when I was young. Ever hear "They're coming to take me away" at 45 or 72? Sublime.

  7. Ohhh Greg -- I am so sorry to have seen this. You are one of the nicest people that I have met on this board, and I was so gratified to see so many well wishers who clearly think the same as I do! Please get well and take care of yourself!

Lots of love and healing vibes --

  8. It's clear that a 2004 tsunami-sized relief effort is needed -- which was fast and effective at preventing the massive "secondary deaths" caused by infection and disease. I hope that it happens.

Here's a place to start. I would also think that orgs like MercyCorps, International Red Cross and Medecins Sans Frontiere would also be mounting major relief efforts.

  9. You better make sure your IMs aren't logged...

This -- mine are. Though I like IMing as it reduces email strings. I use it during client calls and as a remote conversation tool for multiple users (we use Office Communicator). The OP is correct that it can be annoying, but I do prefer it to picking up the phone and leaving a message. I hate voicemail (leaving and receiving).

  10.

At the end of the game with the Hawks up 6-2, Janssens (a goon who average something like 5 minutes of ice time per game) starts trying to kill people and fight everyone but does not get called for anything. Meanwhile, Ben Eager and Jackman get into a fight and Eager is given an instigator and match penalty even though Jackman's gloves were on the ice first. Eager will be suspended due to it being in the last 5 minutes of the game.

I DVRd the game and watched this am without knowing anything about it -- wow, what a game. I agree with everything in your post -- especially the officiating. As far as Eager is concerned, he had tape on his knuckles due to stitches incurred from a previous fight that night with that one of the Blues guys (I forget which). So the league threw out his match suspension and he played tonight (and the hawks won again).
