  1. Where do the Dallas tickets "go on sale?" It looks like the Palladium has partnered with Ticketmaster, and Ticketmaster is selling tickets for the George Strait show at the Cedar Park Center. A search for Wilco on Ticketmaster's site shows a half dozen dates that include neither Dallas nor Cedar Park. Further confusing things is two results (St. Paul, Chicago night two) from the Ticketmaster search also show up on the Front Gate Tickets site. Adding to this mess is the show page on wilcoworld.net which advertises a June 28 presale for the dates surrounding the recently-removed Texas appear
  2. I got tickets for the Austin show this morning. It's at the newest and swankiest venue in town, with prices ranging from $85.50 to over $500 for VIP treatment. I scored center seats, fifth row lower mezzanine and feel comfortable paying half the price of orchestra tix and the same as those in the back of the balcony. Though I must admit this and Neko in the same week have eaten up my discretionary income until probably July.
  3. Dallas is GA? I didn't even notice. We scored second row balcony tickets for Houston. [Well, it calls then Grand Tier tickets, but I looked at the seating chart and a balcony's a balcony, regardless of what you call it. Unless it's a mezzanine.] I must say, for triple digit ticket prices I would at least expect a place to sit... But I'm old. And getting older. This was by far the most nerve-wracking ticket acquisition I've ever experienced. I've been a fan since in utero and this was my first shot at seeing the man live. The trip from Austin will be more than worth it. Hell, may ev
  4. Thanks for the offer, but I think I'll hold onto these for now. I sold about half my vinyl when I moved last year and feel like I held onto this for a reason. For reference purposes, No Depression is catalog number ROCK 6050-1 and Still Feel Gone/March 16-20, 1992 is catalog number ROCK 6110-1. Samorama mentioned the 1998 picturedisc 45s of Gun b/w I Wanna Destroy You, I Got Drunk b/w Sin City, and Sauget Wind b/w Looking For a Way Out (acoustic) and Take My Word. I can't attest to other incarnations of these singles. Also previously mentioned are AM on red vinyl and Down With Wilco, whic
  5. No Depression was, indeed, released on vinyl. My copy is marbled pink - can anyone tell me if this is a repressing? I believe I recall seeing some on black, but I'm wrong a lot. As for the Still Feel Gone/March 16-20, 1992 - my copy has the former on translucent blue vinyl and the latter on translucent green. I believe there are also copies circulating with marbled vinyl. The blue/green platters sound good, though. I doubt it's super-heavy virgin vinyl, but I have no complaints.
  6. My first Wilco show a stealth gig at a small club where they performed under the name Summerteeth in order to get around their Opening For R.E.M. contract. Still the loudest show I've ever seen. Went to their first Austin City Limits taping the next day and Jeff claimed he, too, was still deaf. Been to all three Wilco ACL tapings, and they just get better. Looking forward to seeing this most recent one when it airs next month. Better, still, was Arcade Fire's taping the previous night. Best. Show. Ever. At SXSW several years back Neko Case and the gents from Calexico did a free daysho
  7. They're my third favorite band. Have been for a long time. Wilco doesn't even make it into the top five. Haven't seen Darjeeling, but am looking forward to it if it inspired a Kinks-related thread. On the Rushmore director commentary Wes Anderson said he originally wanted to use only Kinks tracks to score the film. He ended up using just that one about how Nothing in the World can Stop Me Worryin' 'Bout that Girl. Great choice for the scene, I believe. I'll close by positing no one captures middle class English melancholy as well as Ray Davies does.
  8. They get the whole hour this time around! Guess third time is a charm.
  9. I'd like to think the addition of this song to the setlist was a direct result of the Underrated/Overrated thread this summer, on which it appeared more than once. The version at the ACL taping last night blew me away. I understand they're rerecording the entire album with the current lineup and releasing it under the name BM...
  10. Looks like Tweedling has some posting to do. But let me just say that Terry Lickona introduced them by saying they are the one band that most personifies what Austin City Limits is all about. Talk about an endorsement!
  11. I have two space available tickets for Regina Spektor's ACL taping Monday night. I also have two space available tickets for Bloc Party's taping Monday night. I'd love to trade any or all of these for one ticket to Wilco's taping Saturday afternoon. I'll be busy between the hours of 8 and 11 Friday night which is when the Wilco ticket drop will be announced, or I'd try to get some myself. You can email me at zackjemison at yahoo dot com or PM me. Thanks!!
  12. I'm psyched to see Too Far Apart pop up so much in the underrated category. I've always thought that song was great.
  13. So what's the word? Or are you just toying with us? If so, I'm going to have to start calling you LaToyer.
