  1. good film. very sad. very, very sad. I am not sure what else to say at the moment.
  2. thanks for posting - we will be watching it tonight.
  3. I got the joke. man, I hate that song. Happy Father's Day all!
  4. thank you for posting that from IMDB Captivity is "disturbing and raw, yet a classy and thought provoking film"
  5. I am not a huge fan of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, etc genre of the 70s and 80s......however, I have seen the old one and the "new" one and the new one is a lot more graphic, sexualized, etc. I really think there is a difference between the slasher movies of old and the sadistic torture movies that are flooding the market these days. It seems a step further to me. And in the days of our own government arguing about what constitutes torture and what is acceptable torture - it all seems a little too closely connected and scary for my liking. And yes- Jen - Emily is indeed 13. I know.
  6. I also have to add that showing this stuff to young kids, I believe, is abusive (as it was mentioned in the article) Children process things very differently than adults and to be exposed to this sort of violence at such a young age - without the skills or mental capacity to separate fantasy from reality - is a very distressing thing.
  7. my 13 year old has been interested in scary movies for a few years - I know it is the attraction of what she isn't supposed to watch. However, I have always given in on some movies like The Others and other movies that offer suspense, a little jump and stuff here and there. In the last couple years I have gotten more and more lenient with what I let her watch - and sometimes she sees stuff at friends' houses, like The Exorcist (which I told her she could see once she got to high school). However, these torture flicks are just beyond the pale for me......and she knows my disgust and issue
  8. ummmmm. yeah. errrr something.
  9. that does it. hiiiiiiiiii-ya!
  10. excuse me. David Eckstein is not "gritty" - he is "scrappy" - and that's totally different. Leave him out of it.
  11. I personally liked the slideshow of the many faces of Christina Aguilera on that website. Thanks!
  12. I keep picking that up at the bookstore - but have yet to commit.
  13. agreed. When I think of glam metal - I think Poison, Pretty Boy Floyd, etc......oh my
  14. I do not consider GnR to be glam metal at all.....when they came out, they seemed like the antithesis of glam. Duff may have used hairspray, but hell, he used to be in The Fartz. Gives him some cred. http://www.alternativetentacles.com/bandinfo.php?band=fartz I liked (and still do like) Appetite for Destruction - though some of their later stuff was pretty bleh. I was never into metal, but damn I loved that album. Most of the punk kids I grew up with were into it.
  15. While I can't deny that I get a little satisfaction from seeing her see a little justice - this comment is fucking disgusting and uncalled for.
  16. schweet!!! And yes, you are right - it does have that discography on it - I forgot about that!......as you can tell, it's been some time since I have listened to it. i went to grab it from the shelf a couple weeks ago and was like @!^!@&^#%$ where is it?? no clue.
  17. oh man - I totally forgot about that!!! I need to pull that out - oh wait, I don't have a record player. Bummer. I need to just get that on CD......hmmmm here little piggy...... I ran to the record store the day it came out. My pals and I were so psyched and I was SO Blatz obsessed......the Downfall song on that comp was great too. I also need to get the Filth/Blatz split again - I have it on vinyl, but can't find the disc.....grumble.
  18. I loved those Pinhead Gunpowder 7"s - what I would really love to have again is that 7" by Soup.....remember that?
  19. here's another classic from that era.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60xp6XUD_40
