  5. I love the Alchemist...... right now I am reading Anne Lamott - Blue Shoe Our own Kidsmoke Donna sent it to me ages ago and I pulled it off the shelf. It has made my time while unable to walk much more pleasant....I am really enjoying it.

I finally broke down, hopped on the bandwagon and picked this up to see what all the hooha is about and can't freaking put it down......as I mentioned in another thread, regardless of the authenticity of the "facts" etc etc it is still a gripping read..... The thing that really hits me is that my ex husband was a drug addict from the time he was 13/14 years old......and so much of what Frey thinks at the beginning of the book of himself and how he handles relationships, etc sounds like it could have come straight from the mouth of my ex husband.   14. I finished Joan Didion's The Year of Magical Thinking and am still processing it...... I am back to The Kite Runner, and absolutely love it. I look forward to my reading time every day.
  15. I am reading this right now for book group at work.....I am loving it..... However, I have two coming in the mail next week which I can't wait to get my mitts on....thanks to a book reviewer on Fresh Air doing her Best Of list.....

  17. wow...I tore through the Maureen Dowd book....it was a really good read. Thoughtful, yet entertaining. I love a good columnist..... and we just got back from the bookstore.....next up? I loved Dead Man Walking, read it almost 10 years ago! I wanted to get this when it came out, but was chin deep in grad school work.....so, I am pretty excited about it. Also, Em and I are starting a weekly tradition of going to the book and/or comic store and then sipping hot cocoa at the coffeeshop next door.....I am telling you, tonight, it was the best two hours I have spent in recent weeks!
  18. I will have to dig it out.....I have always felt bad about not reading it. My mom doesn't give me books very often, and when she does I know it's because it means something to her and something she knows I would like.

  20. I picked this up today after hearing this man speak at a conference.....he was amazing. He is speaking again in Joliet tomorrow and I might just drive down to see him.....hmmm.......that's how awesome he was!!
