I don't think my daughter will *ever* forgive me for that one.

Tragic, sad news...another talented soul added to Rock and Roll Heaven.

Well now...I have to say, I'm quite impressed with how articulate your friend is. He uses such vivid adjectives and creative nouns. He sounds like a well-educated adult. I'm also impressed that your friend goes to concerts to get hammered. I thought for sure that someone would want to go to a concert to hear music and remember their experience the next day; however, I must be wrong. Who knew? I would love to encounter this friend of yours at a concert. My child, to whom he is referring, will most definately be accompanying me. I really hope he can live up to his dreams by drinking more

They Might Be Giants positively do NOT want kids at their shows, which is why they only sell tickets/play to an 18+ crowd. However, I don't understand this because, you're right, they definately cater their music to a younger audience.

I have to agree. People at concerts are much more sensitive to kids than at sporting events. I don't know why. At my daughter's first Wilco show, people were surprised to see her once they stepped on her. It was a complete accident, of course, and they appologized excessively. One guy even went to the bar and got her a WHOLE CUP of marachino cherries to appologize! After she was stepped on a couple of times, I carried her on my back...no problems! As for the swearing, people definately curbed their language, and if they slipped, it was very considerate, yet *so* funny when their eyes go

I think taking kids to shows is perfectly acceptable. I've been taking my daughter to various shows since she was tiny. It just depends on the show and the venue. When she was little, she went to most outdoor shows that we went to. As she grew up, I started taking her to indoor ones. When she was 6 she went to her first Wilco show, but it was her 30th concert. She's 9 now, and if we are at a concert, she's right there with us rockin' out. We still have to hold her up to see, which can be exhausting, but that's a small price to pay to watch the awe spread over her face when she's watchin

Have you read "Living with the Dead" by Rock Scully? I loved this account of the band, especially Garcia. It's out of print now, but I think you can still find it through Harvest Book Search.

That is too sweet!

I honestly don't believe it was true. I know that's what he told you, but maybe it was his way of making you feel disappointed so that you would leave the area quicker. Whatever his reason, I just *know* (or at least I believe I know) that the information he gave you was false.

Hey Kevin!! It was a fabulous night, wasn't it? I can't wait to see the pictures!!! PM heading your way!

Where did you hear something like that? Is it really true? I'm with you...I've never heard anything about that. I only purchased general admission tickets for my family.

All I know is what I was told by the bassist. My husband was like, "I really dig your stuff, man." and he said, "Oh...well that's great! This was our last show." When we were talking after the show, Erica said that the break up was "complicated", but that it could probably be simplified. There seemed to be a disagreement about that issue.

That was the last show for the Heartless Bastards (are you sure that was the name of the opening band?). Anywho, they broke up. We were lucky enough to hang out with them and from what I gathered from the bass player it went something to the effect of, "You can continue to check out Erica (lead singer) playing at a stadium near you. You can catch me playing in little (I can't remember the city) Ohio." When John walked by on his way to the bus, he stopped by Erica and said, "Nice job...you have an amazing voice." The bass player went to step up and shake his hand, but John was in a hurry a

It was positively a most rockin' show! But a special treat for me meeting all the wonderful, local and semi-local people from here. My family and I *LOVED* meeting all of the VC'ers!! My husband used to make fun of me for hanging around here all of the time; he has definately changed his mind. Late last night he was like, "Wow...and you've "met" all of those people on VC? They were amazing!!!" I always told him that this place houses a very special group. Now he's a believer.

You all are so very lucky!!! *sniff* I miss home... The Fox is a fantastic venue! Can't wait for the details!!!

I wasn't aware that it was a GA show. I've only been to Charlottesvill once...checked out downtown and walked around the venue. There wasn't anyone playing that night, so obviously I've never been to a show there. I did notice that they had seats, and that they were numbered, so I assumed that there would be ticketed seating.

For the Charlottesville, Va show, will a password be needed for the presale? If so, any idea what it is? Thanks!
-
Where did you see that tidbit of info? I *must* be missing something!O.k. Here's another quesiton...Is there anyway to contact the mysterious people behind the website?

Top Ten Things To Send To College With My Daughter
lovecontagious replied to trestle's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
If she hasn't started collecting them already, she'll start to once she gets there! A fridge and Christmas lights are a must! When I went to college the first time, I had bought a huge piece of carpet that was at the end of the bolt for cheap. Then, I cut to fit the room once I got there. It was plaid lime green, blue, red, and yellow...very "retro-cool".
