new album is pretty good. i can't stand the second song though.
-
dear god was that solo bad. sounded like me trying to solo.
-
I could swear I hear hints of Queens Of The Stone Ages' Songs For The Deaf sprinkled on most of the tracks. Then again, Dave Grohl did drum for that album.
i only heard about half of that while it was streaming on facebook but i loved what i heard.
-
pretty good. minus the second song (God is God).
-
jackie's new album is great. watched a vid earlier of jackie & phil rehearsing 'brokedown palace' from someone's room/house. really good
-
i'd never heard jackie greene until gorman mentioned him on his podcast. it's good stuff.

"Someday, Someway" is on the short list of perfect power pop songs.
Perfect.
yeah, no kidding. was it in a movie or something? the minute i heard the first two chords i immediately recognized it.
-
never really heard him before. listening to favorite waste of time. wow. love this.
edit:
son of a bitch. just added the greatest hits to rdio, hit play & instantly recognized 'someday someway'. thanks!

I didn't know it was theirs until I read your post.
i found out via crowesbase.
this show is fantastic. chris' bit about ohio before the encore is hysterical

I only looked at the new releases for this past Tuesday and noticed a couple of albums there that I couldn't find on Rhapsody. I get the most use out of the offline play feature, which is the source of my frustration with the Rhapsody app. I'm anxious to see how Rdio's compares.
one issue i've had with offline playing (and it might just be on android?):
if i have rdio set to offline mode & i reboot or close the app, when i try to listen to songs synced for offline, nothing comes up. can't figure out why.

Really like the Tomorrow Blues tune.
yeah. i had no idea that was a chris/rich song.
-
I'm going to give this a try. The Rhapsody app has been really frustrating to me. Do you use Rdio mainly on your PC or do you also use the iPhone/Android apps?
A quick look at Rdio's site showed a selection as good, if not better, than Rhapsody's. So I am intrigued.
i use rdio on my work pc, imac at home & my EVO phone. it's fantastic. i've found maybe 10 albums they don't have (mainly canadian stuff. luke doucet/kathleen edwards)

there's a lot more 'jamming' than i expected . not a bad thing, just pointing it out.
-
listening to the first show. really digging it. neal's guitar sounds like garcia on a few songs. chris sounds great.
-
i love Rdio
this. one of the most amazing services i've used in a while.
-
been meaning to watch this for a while. added to my netflix queue.

don't know what the title is, but i love this mid-tempo mellow shit with fender rhodes.
wow. love that tune.

It looks like he is pretty much staying with the so-called country-rock vibe. If that is the case, then that makes me interested to hear the shows, and the album.
for sure. i love chris' solo stuff. it's very hippy but that's ok with me!

chris & the brotherhood played last night. looks like it was taped. hope it turns up soon!

that Kurt Vile album is fabulous imo.
his vocals sound like Lou Reed meets Thurston Moore, not like those are exactly the most "in key" singers ever (plus, i'll take his vocals over the nasally whine of the RAA singer any day... (i do like them tho)
oh well. still my favorite album on the year, and easily the best of his 4 albums.
i don't like lou reed & am so-so on thurston. so there ya go!

I listened to this over the weekend... meh... I don't get it. The songs are very atonal (I gotta have at least some sort of hook) and the vocals sound like he's purposely trying to sing off key... I'll give it another listen or two, but not impressed at all so far...
i had the exact same reaction when listening. not my bag at all
-
It's a great freaking album.
zero willpower is a beautiful song

can't get enough of this. is it possible for an album to go into my top 10 or 15 of all time after only 3 listens?

ah, no. i don't think so anyway. there are some different tracks though. agreed about 'i feel alright'
