  1. i am an ID specialist (pediatric), actually, here in portland. if influenza a or b was diagnosed early, then there is an antiviral for that. i have also treated pts with steroids and/or IV gamma globulin, but neither are considered "standard of care" for viral myocarditis.

it is definitely not the easiest disease to diagnose, especially early in the illness... and pts can get sick very quickly from this disease.

  2. did anyone else see the guys on the red carpet, on that cheezy E! channel red carpet show? they briefly interviewed the band, asking some lame question about "how did you make the switch from the 'alternative' to 'rock' category" ...as if jeff had a choice in the matter.

  3. whenever I go to Chicago, I eat breakfast at Flo, on Chicago Ave. Good food and good coffee. I also must have chicago style pizza at Giordano's. I also try to get a luigi steak sandwich at Bar Louie, usually the Bucktown one (around the corner from my old house). Favorite sushi is at Blue Fin, on North/Damen Aves. Favorite burritos/chips/salsa hands down are at Tacalitlan, on Chicago Ave. Oh man, I cant wait to come back to Chicago!!

ps Fogo du Chao is a great place but spendy for sure. The steak is just as good at Tango Sur, and (at least 4 yrs ago), Tango was BYOB with a small cork fee. I hear the paella is good at Tango, but I have never had it.

I totally forgot about Cafe Iberico! Damn that's some good sangria.

  4. Sounds like a sports team, I know, but it's just more weird weather:

Stay safe, Dreamin' Judy, and any others in the area! Those of you being hammered by the storms in the southern states, stay safe too. :cheekkiss Looks like Mississippi & Alabama are taking a beating.

I like that the woman who was walking her dog and got blown across the street grabbed onto a cyclone fence. How appropriate. :P

Donna, this actually happened in Vancouver WASHINGTON, not too far north of Portland Oregon. Jerod works in Vancouver, but luckily the twister was nowhere near the hospital. What if it hit the hospital...where would the injured go? Just thinking out loud.

  5. Does anyone remember the excitement when MTV premiered the Michael Jackson "Thriller" video? Now that was awesome. I think I had a slumber party that night.

  6. i heard walken while eating salad at california pizza kitchen this past weekend. i was surprised that my response was sadness. good or bad for wilco?? i dont know. certainly not as cool as a VW commercial.
