Long, long LONG story...but in 2005 the dear Tweedys did a benefit concert for the research lab where I used to work, which focused on Kawasaki disease. Before the benefit show, Jeff pulled out quite a comprehensive list of songs he'd written to date. I got to choose the show setlist. He basically circled every song on the list I wanted, then someone transcribed and printed up the setlist. I thought it was pretty good. Final list here: http://www.wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=847
Yes, my best show ever. 03-05-2005. If you've listened to the show, you'll hear Jeff dedicate Cars Can't Escape to me during first encore. Wow.

I am curious to hear any reviews from this reunion tour. Was it awesome or the biggest mistake ever?
I was doing yard work today and Malkmus walked by with his daughters; he lives in my neighborhood. Funny to see the indie icon as a plain old daddy, handling 2 young girls who were tired of their tiny scooters. So they all walked, one whined, and SM carried 2 scooters. I thought it would be a bad idea to ask my question to him ("...hey neighbor, is this reunion tour awesome, or the biggest mistake ever?")

I think KG has taken it to a different level. Intensity and passion are fine, but he comes across as just a gigantic turd more often than not.
Agree. If a player like KG has a hx of repeatedly being an ass on the court in the past, then he's probably an ass.
In other news, how about Andre Miller tonite. Go Blazers!

GO BLAZERS
Brandon Roy is having knee surgery tomorrow, so he's out for the playoffs. I am feeling confident that we do have a chance vs the Suns. I got tix for game 4. So excited!

I am fairly underwhlemed by it so far. I feel it's lacking and I have the feeling of "this is all we get after a six year wait?"
If you have been following the trials and tribulation of Miles over the past 6 years (see excerpt below from Beulah website, a 2007 entry), then I think this record has a much more profound impact on you. Take an hour to put on some headphones and read the lyrics (in the CD insert) as you listen. It's quite a visceral experience; pain, loss, shame, love, hope. This record is a glimpse into the Hell where he has been the past 5-6 years. I think it's an amazing piece of work, and I am so happy that Miles is back. It's really quite startling when you realize how dark and sad some of these songs are, when on first-listen they seem like happy, sugary poppy songs on the surface. Total sick irony.

Hello friends of Beulah,Since many of you have been asking about the status of Miles' solo album we thought this might be a good time for an update. Here's the good news: Miles is about 70% finished with the record. He just needs to add the vocals and some minor instrumentation. Now for the bad news: As was previously mentioned in the older news section, Miles had two surgeries on his shoulder in 2005/2006 which prevented him from playing guitar for about a year. Around this same time he was diagnosed with a disease of his large intestine/colon which has led to some problems with his kidney. After visiting the emergency room on 4/24, he was scheduled for surgery 48 hours later. Unfortunately there were some concerns with his blood work and the risk of cardiac arrest so his surgery was rescheduled for this past Friday. The surgery was a success and he's doing well. Here are a couple of pictures. The reason this is noteworthy is because Miles was scheduled to finish recording on April 30th. That said, all recording is canceled until he recovers.

OMG I am thinking I should fly somewhere to see one of these shows. Need to line up the tour schedule with my call schedule.

Oh forget it. Looks like you live in Toronto.
Edit: you should probably learn how to spell your my president's name correctly.
That's better.

p.s Obamma is a liar , this is how he spends his days , he goes out to a podium spews some utopian bullshit then goes into a room somewhere signing bills to do the opposite of what he says in public. Sorry thats just reality.
Hi. With all due respect, you should probably learn how to spell your president's name correctly. Forgive me if that was just a "typo"

This was one of my all-time favorite shows, that DeKalb show at Otto's. And I've been to many many shows. I think I pee'd in my pants hearing Nels and Jeff play ALTWYS.

Has anyone mentioned they are playing the Greek Theatre in Berkeley on June 25? I just got 2 tickets. Not even sure if I can go, but as the wise Pneyu taught me, "buy now, ask later"
PS: I just saw Malkmus at the grocery store like 2.5 hrs ago.

this is really the best news i've heard in a long long while

Here comes the sun
I am pretty sure I have heard Jeff do this solo. Or, with Martin Rivas to be more exact.

I went to Jazz Fest this year and it was amazing. The gospel tent was a highlight for me. Oh, and all that good food...

Time to revise those travel plans. I must admit, I did not see this one coming. Pack your rain pants and wellies!
A Canadian tour in February is pretty hardcore.
Well this is nice! We have tickets for two Olympic events (nothing major) on Feb 14 and Feb 15th! And my nurse recently relocated to downtown Vancouver, so I have a place to stay! Woo hoo!

I saw 3 shows of the first "reunion" tour in 2004. it was awesome.
