Remember that one awesome weekend in Chicago when Tom Petty (Vic Theatre) and Minus 5 with Wilco (Abbey Pub) played the same weekend? I think that was the same weekend. Or was it Tom Petty & Beulah? Either way, it was an awesome weekend of music.

I saw them a couple nights ago here in Portland. It was a great show! Lots of faves from Gentleman and Black Love. The new album is pretty good too.

Almost the entire YHF album was played tonight, between the opener and Malkmus & Jicks' set tonight.
PS They played Pavement's "Stereo" which was pretty fun.

Hi everyone, Susan Miller is really super appreciative of everyone's kind notes and thoughts. However, she's requested that this particular thread be locked. This way, it will be clearly understood that nobody should expect updates, good or bad, in this public forum. Again, there's been no harm done and she doesn't want anyone to take this in a negative context. That's why the thread's not being deleted. Its just going to be locked. Thanks!

Im not sure if this has been mentioned already: I just finished reading the book, Wild: From Lost to Found on The Pacific Crest Trail. Early in the book, the main character cannot remember the lyrics to "Gun."
Then in a later chapter, the main character hooks up with a guy wearing a Wilco shirt. Her pick-up line: "I love that band."

Well I called around a few places today, and the prices I was quoted were a bit insane. $400 a night for a standard room... From the Orchards. .yeah. No thanks.
Wow that's outrageously depressing BS. My husband & I stayed at The Orchards in 2011. For about $160/noc

WooHoo! For the first time since 2002, I am the most recent poster in all the sections of Via Chicago! Let's see how may hours (minutes?) my reign will last! (i'm not counting the buy-sell ticket thread)

I'm so hopeful for Solid Sound 2014, that I cancelled my hotel reservation last month.

Out today. I know we're only 7 days into it, but so far it's my favorite album of 2014. Altho I'm not sure it will end up better than Mirror Traffic.

I love this band. I saw them play last summer, in a tiny sweaty barn. On a farm in Happy Valley, Oregon. Sounds like a drunkard's dream, but I swear it's true! And yes it was a barn-burner!

Dang, I'd brave a polar vortex to hear Shakin' Sugar. Can't remember the last time I heard it. Sounds like a great night - Im sad to have missed it.

Adorable. I hope she has a great time! My kids are about to disown me because I'm not taking them with me to Largo next week. Mama needs some me-time

I'm loving this new album

It was so great to catch up with you too, Mr Solace. It had been way too long. I wanna see some of those pics you snapped on Saturday!

The Denver show was really amazing. Super fun; I loved every minute of it. I was sad when their set was over, and it seemed like Westerberg didn't want it to end either. I loved the chaotic sloppy ending...some things never change.

Tweedy and co. should take a note from Colin Meloy. Ticket presale was done through Colin's website; and I got tickets for his solo show at The Fonda purchased and processed by 10:06AM today with no hassle.
I know the Fonda is definitely bigger than Largo, so the comparison is not entirely equal - but I have to say that The Fonda is a pretty small place overall and it was one of the easiest ticketing experiences I've had in quite some time.
Sounds seamless. However the Tweedy show will still be tons better

Well, that was interesting. I tried to get 2 tix for the Sunday night LA show at the Largo and kept getting server errors upon checkout (after entering my CC info). So I switched dates and tried for 2 tix to the Thursday night show. More errors before checkout; server kept timing out on me.
But then I got a confirmation email that I managed to purchase 2 tix to each show -- both Sunday and Thursday.
And now I got another email that I got 2 tix to Sunday's show only.
Oh boy. did I just get 2, 4 or 6 tickets? Looks like I'll be on the phone here...
That's weird. Maybe there's hope for me yet. I'll check my emails. And credit card activity. Cuz I gave them my CC info many times...

This is a freaking mess for Largo tix. I put my credit card info in there, then it crashed.. did anyone get Largo tickets???
-
crap, too busy at work to get presale tix for seattle!

No Kidding! He always stops here or in Eugene or both! Maybe those excessive chit-chatters at the Crystal Ballroom back in '06 have turned JT sour on the Rose City for good!
That was my exact thought! I think Jeff likes PDX in general. Yes he seemed super annoyed at the Crystal--was that really back in 2006? It's been a long time.
For a solo show, alternate venue choices are tough. Roseland and Newmark are probably too small? I suppose the Keller or Schnitzer are possible...much bigger than Crystal Ballroom but hey if Andrew Bird can nearly sell-out the Schnitz, so could Jeff. I would love to hear Jeff sing solo there; the acoustics are so perfect. Although I am a fan of GA.

I am sad that he is skipping Portland OR. Wah.

Sheesh...this is depressing. The news about Seth, this new song. Sigh.

What a special night at a beautiful venue. Hearing so much new material in one sitting was admittedly overwhelming at first, but it was great to eventually sit back, sip my drink, and enjoy the music and lyrics. I loved it all, and I cannot wait to have the album so that I can really enjoy each track.
I've never heard Jeff gush so honestly (and for so long) about Susan on stage. His adoration for her is so deep and lovely; when he finally "realized" that he was going on and on, it was really a sweet moment. I was crying like a baby, but many here know that I am a crybaby nut job!
And last, but certainly not least, to see Spencer on stage at a large theater was thrilling and I was so proud of him. I've known this child since he was about 4 years old and he has grown to be the type of man that we all hope our children will become. Love that boy so!
PS He is truly an AWESOME drummer.
