Why?

Watched it this morning. Still a funny episode, but hardly having any of the funny, memorable lines of yore. So I'm kind of indifferent. Miner's and Toby's talking heads were by far the funniest parts of the episode.

Apparently, in the only good/semi-decent bracket I picked, I now have two of my Final Four completely axed.

The Official Bob Dylan Thread
Gobias Industries replied to RainDogToo's topic in Someone Else's Song
Yeah, I'm feeling the Time Out of Mind comparison better than the Modern Times comparison, so that is -
I should not have had that much faith in Duke.

The state of the music business thread...

Well, he adopted it as part of his persona, basically, so it's only one step removed. -
The state of the music business thread...
Gobias Industries replied to Vacant Horizon's topic in Someone Else's Song
Anyone who decides to nickname himself "Cougar" loses all non-musicmaking cred whatsoever, but I suppose he's freaking out because "his" old business model is dying out. He has to realize that this is changing. But, at least, props to him for voicing his opinion in an orderly manner, rather than lashing out in every way at the things that have sustained the band's popularity (Metallica, you're a world-class fool). -

I've been in, for one reason or another. Been exploring other avenues, i.e. A.M. Well, not really, but part of it has to do with being slightly underwhelmed by the one song I heard that was webcast at Lolla the previous year. Don't remember what it was or how it sounded at all, and I plan on keeping it that way until it is hear-able in studio perfection.

The weird thing is that it seems like last generation (from what I could discern), being a cop was an aspiration, and a policeman used to be someone you always kinda looked up to or looked for. My generation? We slander them, think they're total assholes and look down on police work as a profession. I wonder what happened. I think being a cop ain't what it used to be, and it could use its share of closet-cleaning, but it's not supposed to be the poor line of work that it is now.

The guy has some great Talking Heads stuff from his stint there, e.g.: Crosseyed and Painless Psycho Killer

Wow, I want to see this movie. Rare time when I see a trailer and I want to see this movie. Also, A+ Arcade Fire use and Forest Whitaker is in this, so that is awesome.

Specific parts of songs that kill you
Gobias Industries replied to sgtpepper64's topic in Just A Fan
When the coda for "Hey Jude" by the Beatles kicks in. I bask in its glory every time. Also, for Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder Road," when the instrumental part kicks in it blows my brains out. When it comes to Wilco, they've already been mentioned...the Ashes part, the beginning of the guitar freakout in At Least That's What You Said, and the horns in Pieholden Suite at the end are real grabbers. -

Phish doing the Beatles...I've heard a lot about this but I cannot verify the goodness or badness of their efforts, because the junk is out of print.
