  1. oceanman... that big split cable is to the ernie ball jrs he uses to control the Moogerfooger delay. man... there are some other things on there i jsut cannot figure out. the white pedal with all the knobs? what the hell?
  2. the instrumental sections of No One Else are so awesome and intense. And the vocal melody afterwards is goddamn beautiful. gooood good stuff. i would love to order an EP if such a thing is possible.
  3. Really glad you liked em. Treeing a Wolf and Jeremiad are actually from big ole LP called Tuscarora, not an EP, and Heartbreak in the Times is not on anything yet. but we're working on that! keep us posted about more from you guys.
  4. "On a Wire" is definitely great. As is "Sea of Change." Really, its all good. if you are so inclined, check out my band Grasshopper www.myspace.com/longleggedmusic
  5. it doesnt have the celestion, and i am planning on putting the boost after the overdrive pedals (or at least the Rx). I know its supposed to be a boost in itself, but when the drive is almost all the way up (and even with volume at full throttle), it dampens down the signal some. i think this is because of the awesome compression it does. and i KNOW the issue is not the amp, because my guitar, with other OD pedals has been as loud as im lookin for on the exact same settings. so headroom isnt an issue. I just want a boost that can get to the volume of those other pedals without adding more d
  6. im using a vox AC15. and the thing im trying to combat is the volume loss caused by certain overdrive pedals (specifically the Rx Overdriver). I know my guitar can be louder with this amp, because it often is... just not with certain pedals.
  7. hey'all i am looking for a good volume boost pedal. something relatively clean that can boost just the volume like crazy. i've been looking at candidates for a while, but most of them seem to be glorified ODs, or at least meant to drive your amp into breakup. i have many a pedal that supposedly boosts my signal, but i have some gibsons with insane outputs, and all the pedals seem to do is clip. i need more volume! suggestions? i have been looking at various treble boosters, like the Homebrew Germania (im not sure what im looking for is a treble booster tho), and the pedalworx mcBoost.
  8. neil young (all of his tones... ALL OF THEM) tweedy (like ITMWLY, Spiders, ALTWYS, etc etc...) Grant-Lee Phillips Jason Isbell Josh Homme John Lennon (he really had great lead tones. Think the crazy lead turn he did on The End) Ryan Adams (anything live) robbie Robertson Mark Kozelek (especially on the new Sun Kil Moon album) yep. my picks.
  9. this one's trickier... there are a few photos of his board in the Charles Harris residency group on WilcoWorld. try number 78. only things i think i can recognize are: Boss Tuner Freakshow Digilog delay Addrock Ol' Yeller whats the rest?
  10. well on itunes and my ipod, it skips to the next song when appropriate... i just thought it was weird.
  11. i downloaded it from WilcoWorld, but the times of the songs are all fucked up. anybody experience the same thing?
  12. If yer looking for that AGIB tone, FourStrongWinds, I recently got a Rx Electronics Overdriver... and its does nicely. Of course, a lot of it is the ole Tweedy hands. and i would love to know what pat has too. however, i think those pedals you think are johns are actually Andrew Bird's. and yeah, what the hell is that many-knobbed white thing?
  13. After pagin' through the new photos on WilcoWorld, and seeing them live a few times in the last month, i notice that Jeff's got not only a new pedalboard (no more PedalPad, booo hooo), but also a bunch of new pedals. the only ones i can see for sure are: EHX holy grail Moog Analog Delay Lovetone Big Cheese boss tuner dba Total Sonic Annihilation it seems to me that the Prunes and Custard, BBE Treble booster, and Prescription Electronics Overdriver are the most conspicuously missing ones. so what are all the other ones?... lots of little skinny things. anybody got any idea? a good
  14. i agree with BigWheeledWagon on all points, but i have these to add: i would definitely make sure to put distortion/fuzz before overdrive. in my experience, some distortion pedals actually make guitar sounds more even/quiet. so if you want to run them WITH overdrive, it'll pay to have the overdrive boosting their signal, not the overdrive's signal being evened out by the distortion's. does that make sense? also, some people put the wah at the end of their chain. its a different sound than that created when its at the front, so really the choice is yours. hope this helps.
  15. i've always vowed never to become one of "those" people at concert... grumpy and pissed instead of enjoying the music... BUT: although the show at the 9:30 club last night was probably the best wilco show i've been to, the crowd was kinda out of hand. Not only was there some woman up front supposedly telling jeff and co that they sucked and to "get off the stage," but i was stuck between the "drunk couple" (the couple at every concert that twirl each other around and really "groove" on the only songs they truly know [jesus etc, casino queen], while spilling their beer and cocktails on everyo
  16. that site is great! thanks a lot... i may indeed go with their kit.
  17. supposedly they are slightly larger in diameter... the glass tube in other words. i haven't been able to get a whole lotta info from EHX or Vox. This info comes from one of the independent Tube Depot type online sites.
  18. So, as i have mentioned before, i recently purchased a Vox AC15. And now i'm looking for good spare/replacement tubes. i hear good things about EHX's tubes (and theyre cheap too!), but i read on one site that their EL84s are too big to fit in AC15s. Anyone know if this is true? or have any other suggestions? THANKS!
  19. i second the 3rd night MP3 request!!! i couldnt catch the live stream, and i am trying to get recordings of all nights. one and two were fantastic. but i need MORE MORE MOOOORRRE (like a junky).
  20. thank you SO MUCH for the MP3... can't wait for the rest.
  21. I am US based, and my amp has the stock speakers. I'll probably just stick with what i have for the time being, but i know that the tubes will eventually need to be replaced, and i will keep your advice in mind for when that time comes. thanks a lot!
  22. just looked up the AC10... looks like a great little amp. Might look into getting one for recording tasty overdrive if i ever get enough money to buy lots of amps haha. i couldn't agree with your assessment of the AC15 more. i've had it for about a week now and its appeal only grows. i've been using it clean only, because i have a route 66 american overdrive that happens to push my tone into the amp's natural drive perfectly. it sounds almost like ryan adams or early wilco. and a TS9 that pushes it ALL THE WAY over the edge, into the realm of chunk. this sounds like neil young... or the mos
  23. fraid not... never built myself an instrument (unless you count the Jack Daniels bottle i rigged up with a mic to use as a funky percussion piece). but you are a brave and admirable soul to do so. keep us updated on how it goes!
