still in sydney so i havent posted any pictures yet - will try when i get home this afternoon or tomorrow

just back to the hotel. there were 4 melbournians in a row dead centre at the front.... during the kingpin rant when it started, a fellow VC'er did the pirate sound and then i did it. thats when he singled me out - god knows how he knows!. it was a surprise/shock but in a nice way. the sound was much louder than the melbourne ones and the atmosphere was better. the band were smiling the whole time NOW, after the show, a friend had a passes to the backstage party. me and 3 other melbournians and 2 people from brisbane (whiskeygirl) were with her. she asked pat and pat let us into it!. jeff

you can give a pat on the back tonight if you come... the only bad thing about the position i was in was that i could see mikael at all. he looked a bit like roger waters from the angle/lighting - nels amps were in the way

> Passenger Side gets played a ton Froggie! First night of the Australian tour! thats what i was implying - i meant most of AM APART from... the mentioned songs wont get played passenger side is the only song from the album that does get regular play
-
> The important question is: do you wear the tshirt of the band you are going to see or not? i spotted about 6 or 7 people wearing the same wilco t-shirt as me last night
-
> How bout....When you wake up feeling old....when was the last time they played that. the band did in 2003...... jeff did in 2005 as for new madrid mentioned above, it was soundchecked yesterday but not played. i'm sure it'll show up since its the uncle tupelo song they play nowadays safe bets for never again: most of AM, apart from too far apart (i can see this returning), passenger side, pick up the change and should've been in love whats the world got in store, was i in your dreams, dreamer in my dreams, hotel arizona, cant stand it, elt, nothingsever..., we're just friends, my

melbourne, january 26 2003. was a fan for nearly 6 years up to that point so i was really looking forward to it. since it was their first trip down here and i'd never heard them live before, it was a great experience. nice long 28 song setlist since it was the last full length show of the tour. http://www.wilcobase.com/event.php?event_key=675

as for the mix, it think it might have been where you were sitting. i was on nel's side in the 4th row.... he was too loud at times (but i even heard that on bootlegs), but fine on others. i much prefer him on lap steel but overall things sounded fine to me. the 2003 show was louder than this one, but i have quieter shows at the palais (the waifs, for example)... recently john fogerty wasnt even as loud as i thought he would looking foward to sitting in the front row tonight! ps: thanks for the mp3 above
