i am not a fan of sox/yankees games. too tense. I'm watching yet another law and order marathon.

i had a job interview last friday in MD. One of the board members of the non profit was there--a new yorker. We talked a lot of baseball. He said that his Grandmother came to the us in the 20s via Ellis Island from France and lived in NY her whole life, and became enamoured by the mets when the came to town. She watched every game on TV, and made a habit of writing letters to the managers, with ideas on how to better manage the team. My grandfather was a NY Baseball Giants fan and when they left he said he'd never support those bums, not matter where they went. And became a Red Sox fan. When my uncle, his son, moved to san francisco in the late 70s, he just about disowned him.

I really am disappointed in this whole Tshirt/yankee stadium business because i think it was hatched by PR hacks who are trying to keep the money train of the Yankees v Red Sox epic battle for the soul of baseball alive. And i just don't think you need curses and crap, because there are enough stupid things going on in baseball to derail good teams, and maybe it is time for new rivalries.

Now, i know that's bullshit because A-rod only helps himself.

I do not believe any of that nonsense about a T shirt, or about it being dug up. I think the tshirt story reeks of urban legand and the "digging" of it reeks of PR desperation.

He's my new favorite dirt dog. I might need a sean casey shirt next. I vote him "most likely to be first off the bench to start a brawl," only because he's bigger than Dustin Pedroia and can take bigger leaps up dugout steps.
