oh, i agree. i have no problem with performance based incentives, but award based incentives take it a little too far, in my 'pinion. i think it's funny that this rule won't take effect until 2013, though. seems like it would make a bigger impact if they just did it.

i eagerly await their new album, and look forward to whatever direction it takes, i'm sure it'll be intriguing at the very least. i've been very ready as of late for something new from them

according to peter gammons talks have cooled off. i think if he goes before the season it'll be to boston, if he goes during the season it'll be to the yankees. that's just my hunch.

yeah, that was actually one of my first thoughts

yeah, it's the age old quandry of go for the gold, or possibly be a good team on the fence for a long time and hope you can pull it off along the way. this is how i feel about the a's. they are consistently a pretty good team that could be a lot better if they just went for it one of these years, instead they just keep hedging it every year. then there's the red sox who have decided they want to win and they want to win big. (and of course there are always the exceptions to this, such as the sox farm system producing some great assets last season.)

yeah, sportscenter is certainly treating it as if it's all but done. they're talking to steve phillips right now and he's raving what a huge deal it is. and he's at the meetings, so it sounds pretty done

yeah, it's a huge deal. definitely took me by surprise today.
