  1. A friend just introduced me to Morgan Delt. Anyone else heard of this guy? He has a new album coming out via SubPop, but his previous lp is wild.
  2. Sweet, lots of stuff to check out! The first GØGGS album arrived yesterday, and based on their 7" a while back, I imagine that's gonna be in my rotation a lot for a while.
  3. Maybe there's a thread like this that I missed, but I'm interested to see some recent discoveries from VC-ers. What's a band you've just started listening to over the last couple of months and have been giving a lot of spins? For me it's Petite League. Their new album, No Hitter just came out a couple weeks ago. My favorite track on the album is "Down that Road." So, what's yours?
  4. I guess I didn't even realize there was so much dislike of W(TA). It's not my favorite of theirs, but I do enjoy it and I have unabashed love for "W(TS)." Plus "I'll Fight" is on there! Then again my least favorite Wilco album is AM, and I know plenty who find that unfathomable.
  5. moving on to this audiobook & this paperback
  6. Starting this audiobook. Not really a fan of DFW's writing, but this is an interesting portrait. The film was good, too.
  7. Let's see if this makes sense to someone outside my head: There's an asymmetry and dischord that Wilco has played around with since YHF, but I feel like Star Wars is the first time they ever let it dominate more than just a song here and there on an album. This album seems to be built on the concept. And it's always been one of my favorite things about the bands albums since YHF. I was actually surprised Jim O'Rourke wasn't involved with this one because of it. I've been mentally drafting an essay on this topic but I haven't had time to take it further. As an aside, Summerteeth was the first
  8. i immediately thought it looked like Farsi. the first half of it seems especially to be a giveaway. but it could totally pass for Wilco.
  9. Listened to the album for the first time in about a month and was surprised at how ingrained the songs already feel to me among the overall Wilco catalog. For a moment I thought I'd put on one of their other albums. Maybe it's because I listened to it nonstop for so long when they released it, but it was an interesting moment that I pondered the rest of my commute this morning.
