  1. In the liner notes (CD booklet), on the last page,

W(TA) says "Wilco are ...." (names; I don't recall the sequence)

YHF says "Wilco is/was ..." (names)

I smiled when I read the W(TA) version today. I, for one, am glad that the lineup is what it is, and that it's stable.

  2. So, here's something I didn't realize about this whole thing until the last Cinci show. The pose is not just a gratuitous rock star attention grabber. At the end of the pose, as he hops back down to the ground, he crashes the cymbals for that first note and then launches into the rest of the song. He's just getting a little height for that first crash. Or at least that's what it looks like to me...

  3. Dunder, sorry you missed the meetup. I would say that we had a lousy time to make you feel better, but that's not true. I saw Wilco on my birthday last year.. nice way to spend that.

Wendy, thanks for herding us cats and setting that up. It was great meeting everyone, as always.

The "VC 3rd row" had a grand time, and the energy level in the trampoline pit was good. Ditty, did you get a pic of us all? Johnny's time in the witness protection program has expired, so you can post that if you have it.

The Community Service comments went down something like this :

Old balding guy (not me) was front row, dead center, and stood looking bored for much of the set. I think his wife was next to him, maybe sitting for a while. Also in the front row on the Nels end was a Beck-looking stoner (no offense) who was having the time of his life and seemed pretty fried (think "party of one"). I actually had bumped into him in the lobby, and he told me all about his front row ticket, how awesome Jeff was, etc. He won't remember that discussion or much else from the night, but that's cool.

Jeff to old guy: "You were told to be here right? You're here on some kind of community service, aren't you sir?"

Jeff to stoner: "And you are going to be getting some community service soon."

Then in Spiders Jeff let (made) the old guy strum the guitar from the front row.

Really, really a fun show. Too short, and I am quite bummed that Hoodoo Voodoo got cut out of the setlist apparently due to the curfew. That was the song I requested. Alas.

  4. There's another thread with the review stuff, etc here. Ditty, you might want to copy yours over there.

As for the venue, it was a really nice theater, and I thought it was fine for a rock show except for the curfew which apparently shortened the set list considerably. Not sure if that's a venue thing or a city thing, but that was the only sucky part. Jeff's vocals were pretty low in the mix, but I was in the pit so I figured it was just because of that.

And no, I was not "Mr. Community Service". That was mighty funny, though.

Here's a shot of his arm... proof that it's not me.

  5. I'm seeing that if I read the last post in a thread, then it no longer shows up in the "new content" view. It used to show up with a faded folder for the session I was in. Then after I got out of that session (ie, closed the browser for a while), and got back in, it would no longer show up unless there was something new.

But now the thread disappears from the new content view, and so there are no threads with the faded folder icon in that view.

I liked the old way better, if anyone is looking for feedback...

  6. Thanks Wendy! We're in, 6:30 sounds good. Looking forward to meeting folks old and new.

AND IT'S THIS FRIDAY ! ! ! Seems like forever ago since the presale. The band is back in the States, the board is up and running again, school's out, and all was right with the world... see you all soon.

  7. ... and all that malarkey...

    ... wee bit difficult ...

Well, using "malarkey" and "wee" will get you profiled for sure... no wonder you're getting nowhere. :lol

As for a replacement social security card, good luck with that. I had to do that for my daughter when we tried to get her driving permit, and it was a major hoop-jumping event even in person. I can't imaging doing that remote control far, far away.

  8. I am really happy about the increased keyboard presence. There is no disputing Jeff's now-awesome guitar playing and Nels is a great contribution, but they have two awesome key players that didn't have much to do (in terms of keys at least) on SBS and it really adds a lot.

Yeah, I noticed that too. From the pre-leak interviews and live songs, I expected a lot more Nels-centric songs. But I like that the keyboard / piano stuff is a little more out front.

The piano in You Never Know is great.

  9. So, the Cinci show is June 12, and looks like a one-stop warm-up for Bonnaroo on the 13th after they get back from Europe.

In looking at Andrew Bird's tour, he is also playing at Bonnaroo (14th). His date prior to that is June 8 in Colombia, MD.

    So.........

It seems only logical that AB would stop by in Cinci to have a one-night warmup with his Wilco buds before the Roo fest.

I approve. Tony, call Andrea and do lunch.

    That is all. Carry on.

  10. So, I heard this live last summer (Indy / Aug). I recall it having a really cool prog-rock kind of chord progression / break down in the middle or toward the end, but I don't think that the studio version has that.

Does that ring a bell with anyone else?
