Had tickets and saw the UK - Ryder game today. 30 point win, not all that exciting.
I don't care if you love him or hate him, John Wall is for real.

NP: Nothing. Nothing at all. Just me and the dog in the kitchen, and everyone else is still asleep. I like this part of Saturday.

This thread is much better when it sticks to the blasphemy and eschews commentary on the blasphemy or tediously wanders into the territory of what people like.
I have no idea what you just said.

Kiss, bow, or shake hands? Man, I can never get that part right... where the heck is Hillary when I need her??

Hopefully, we can put 5 out there tonight. Pel has no control of this team.
Maybe Rotnei can drop 50+ again.
Go Hogs! I root for anybody who's playing UL. It's just what we do here.

Today's headline in Lexington: "WALL-ELULIAH"
If Coach Cal can keep everybody's head from getting too big to get in and out of the bus, we should have a pretty exciting season.

Recent discussion at the Tweedy dinner table....
Jeff: So, I've been thinking about doing a full blown country record next time.
Sue: That's nice dear.
Jeff: You know, maybe I could buy a pickup truck, get a new hat.
Sue: Whatever you want to do, dear.
Jeff: I think the guys would go for it.
Sue: OK, dear.
Jeff: We already have the right suits.
Sue: Yes, you do, dear.
Jeff: I'd have to start chewing tobacco or dippin' snuff, you know.
Sue: (pause) Well, at least you wouldn't be lying about learning how to use the washing machine from now on.

Talking Heads was the one that sprung to mind for me. I liked REM a lot too, but if we're going for "favorite", it's gotta be the band with that guy in the oversized suit.

NME has confirmed the tracklist, and it'll be fascinating to hear what Gabriel does with these songs:
Scratch My Back:
01 Heroes (David Bowie cover)
02 The Boy in the Bubble (Paul Simon cover)
03 Mirrorball (Elbow cover)
04 Flume (Bon Iver cover)
05 Listening Wind (Talking Heads cover)
06 The Power of the Heart (Lou Reed cover)
07 My Body Is a Cage (Arcade Fire cover)
08 The Book of Love (Magnetic Fields cover)
09 I Think It's Going to Rain Today (Randy Newman cover)
10 Après Moi (Regina Spektor cover)
11 Philadelphia (Neil Young cover)
12 Street Spirit (Radiohead cover)

I pictured him taller.

It all makes sense why Wilco and Tortoise were doing gigs together now. Tortoise needed help with their "math rock," so they went to the "dad rock" for help...hardy har har har.
I'm not seeing the connection. Most of us dads aren't that good at math. And the last thing I want is quadratic equations in my ipod.

Even as a Kentuckian I feel a line may have been crossed here.
I resemble that remark!
-
Am I the only one here who doesn't know what "math rock" is?

IIRC, Jeff did a pre-release listening party for AGIB at the loft. It was also a charity thing, maybe an auction; a few people were able to come to the loft and hear AGIB with Jeff before it was released. I suspect someone on the board was at that...

Peace, indeed. Hang in there. Enjoy all the good times you get.

Via Chicago for me. There's nothing quite like Jeff smoothly strumming along while the rest of the band does a sonic interpretation of WW3. They kicked off one of the LA shows with it, and I couldn't have been happier.
My favorite song live, but not really as an opener. They did that at one show I was at, and it wasn't as good as hearing it a little later. I needed a little time to get ready for it, frankly.
no love for Airline? - they should open every show with that one like the did in 2000
Definitely one of my favorites (and a great opener). Not quite my #1 tho.
