How did Ben get all beat up?
Also, I think this is the first time that the white flash-jump thingie actually put people in a different place. For the ones still on the island, they always came out of the other side of the flash in the same spot. For the folks on the plane last night, they ended up several thousand feet lower, and not in the same proximity to each other. And unharmed... what's that all about?

No, no bother at all. In fact, I noticed the "stealth" video shooting once, and thought it was quite unobtrusive. I was behind you one row just to your right, on the long padded bench thingie. The video's are great... no complaints.

I can understand what you mean about people and their cameras. When I shoot stills or video I hold the camera as close to my body as I can and make sure that it's in front of me so as not to ruin the view of anyone behind me. I'm always very conscious of the people around me. I sat both nights with people I didn't know who waited all day in line for the show. None of them seemed to be bothered by what I was doing and I offered to pass on what I took and we exchanged e-mails and they seemed very happy. That is all.
On Friday, were you in the second row of the first non-gold section? Kinda left of center, dark toboggan, beard?

It was a really loose kind of show. In a good way. My first JT solo, and first show at the Vic. Fun place. I had no idea it was that small. I can't imagine the energy at the residency shows lat year. Or waiting in line 5 nights in Feb.
Some of the things I recall....
After he played the community song, he said that it was a nice song, and that was the last nice song we would hear..
He relayed the story about his dad calling on the cell phone at the LRS... naked.
Hate it Here translated reasonably well to acoustic. Jeff was lamenting about not having the band for that one.
The tradition of the first 30 people in line picking the songs was continued, but Jeff was ripping on the geeks who would try to vie for the honor of finding the most obscure tune possible for him to play (B-side of a promotional 7" UT something or other...)
"Which one of you parents is the one in the BMW who cuts me off in carpool line every day? You know who you are..."
Kingpin acoustic is, well,... awkward.
We heard a new song that Jeff said he wrote and which will be on the new album. Something about plastics trees...
Major brain fart on Should Have Been In Love.
"Most" of the other band members were allegedly there last night. I'm pretty sure I saw Glenn in the balcony box with Sue.
Sue was made at Jeff because he did something wrong IN A DREAM SHE HAD ABOUT HIM. Jeff disavowed responsibility.
You'll enjoy listening... saw one taper, and he said etree. Fun show. Time to get back on the road south...

I listen to the hits and a few others that I have on some playlists,
Wilco's got hits?

Jun 11-14 Manchester, TN
Jun 22-25 Minneapolis, MN
That leaves SEVEN WHOLE DAYS to stop in Louisville or Cincy. Or Lexington (too much to ask?). Or Indy. Yeah, that'd work too.

I don't listen to it as often as I should. Every time I do, I forget how many great tunes it has.
Well put. Same here.

Happy B-Day A-Man!

So, at what age do they actually get their heads out of their butts? Mine are almost 17, 15, and 13, and there are no signs of this happening anytime soon... good kids, but my goodness they're clue-free.

So what did he play on Letterman? How was it?

Discussion on the Jeopardy! Board re: Tues. Night Online test
I think I got 40 out of 50 correct. Maybe that will be good enought to get a call to another audition, but I'm not counting on it.
thanks for the link. I don't suppose 18 will get me a call. actually, 18 is better than I thought I did at the time.

I do better on the "logic" kinds of questions than the pure trivia / knowledge questions. The test tonight had very few of those. Must have been a dozen on authors...
Did we all have the same test? Mine started with something about a Hindu god, and went downhill from there. Also one about who was president in 1812...

I'm hopeful that "electricity" will not be on my list of things to live without this evening.

THAT did not go well... I feel like a total doofus. I suppose it would help if I read more.

Thanks for the bump. Tonight's the night for us EST folks. I'm psigned up and psyched. Hopefully the ice storm won't knock out the internet connection... that would be most unfortunate.
The Most Important Band in America
in Someone Else's Song
Posted
The most important band in America in this decade is actually the 3 or 4 judges who sit at the table in American Idol and determine what will be bombarded upon us through the airwaves in the coming years. Simon & Co have been at the wheel for popular music this decade. Nothin you can do about it, 'cept hopefully outlast it till it dies a natural death.
